Buh-bye sock bun. The style to rock right now is the romantic and effortless half-up, half-down. For a look reminiscent of Claire Danes circa Romeo + Juliet, rely on SARAHPOTEMPA's The Half Up. Like its big sis The WRAP UP™, this nifty tool helps you fake a fuller mane and secures your bun without the help of bobby pins.
Loved the concept of this product. I have long hair and only wear it two ways..up or down because I don't have the time nor patience to do much with it. I was only limited to half up style but I plan to purchase the full product soon since I have very thick and long hair. Looking forward to it.
PS- it can be a little tricky at first if you follow their instructions.. It's more like PULL APART the device... not pinch it. Spent a few minutes trying to figure it out but once I did, it worked great.
I have long, fine (but not thin, there is a lot of it), hair that is very slippery. I was able to do a nice bun as long as I made a ponytail first, then used two hands to roll and tuck the hair. It was hard to make a full circle bun, but it was fine for work. Nice for quick dirty-hair fix.4
I have thin hair and have used similar products to this in the past. However, this one was by far the easiest to use! The only reason I would not be buying more is simply because I rarely wear my hair up in a bun.4
I LOVE this!!! i have VERY fine long hair and it is layered which i thought would make this really difficult. Instead of putting the tool to the end of my hair and rolling i put it in the middle so my layers would all get in it and then wrapped the longer part around it and rolled it up. Today i am rocking a low side bun and love it. Tomorrow i am going to try a top messy bun!!!5
I tried making one of those sock buns that I saw on Pinterest years ago and completely failed. The Half-Up definitely does the trick as far as giving you that bun look. I haven't completely mastered it but I'm getting there. I have long, thick hair and have found it hard to do a full bun with it but I can easily get half of my hair in a bun. I think The Half- Up would be a good buy for anyone that wears their hair up often or just wants something cool and different.
(I received a sample with my birchbox and didn't think to look to see if there were different sizes of The Half- Up that could be more accommodating to hair that is longer and thicker.)
It didn't really work in my hair, my hair kept going everywhere and wouldn't stay in the accessory at all. When it did stay, it was very loose in my hair and didn't look right. I have thin hair and some layers so that might be why.2
It was a good concept but it wasn't as easy to use as it looks4
Because I have fine hair, I had a hard time getting this to work. If my hair was longer (currently a little longer than shoulder length), then I think it could have been okay, but really this requires thick hair to work. It was also difficult to get my layers to work with the product.1
I had never seen this nifty little thing before. I use the hot buns from time to time and let me tell you! This little gadget is amazing and actually easier to use! I love it and can do such cute styles with my hair using this! Thanks Birchbox!5
I found this very difficult to use as I have thick and layered hair.3
