Buh-bye sock bun. The style to rock right now is the romantic and effortless half-up, half-down. For a look reminiscent of Claire Danes circa Romeo + Juliet, rely on SARAHPOTEMPA's The Half Up. Like its big sis The WRAP UP™, this nifty tool helps you fake a fuller mane and secures your bun without the help of bobby pins.
I have super fine, super straight, long hair. But this is almost too much hair for using this to create a full bun with this tool. While I can get it around my hair, when pulled back, my hair is not all a uniform length which immediately creates a problem because rolling what does make it into the tool on the ends isn't going to magically entangle the portions that don't reach. While it does hold decently, it doesn't hold much better than when I just use a simple hairtie to hold a bun. I tend to have to add bobby pins anyway to hold in the strays. The product itself feels really cheap, at least on the exterior, really just a foam curler. The blond color is also not a good match for me. It seems like it would match dyed blond hair better.3
When I got this product I was excited because it looked easy to use and I really don't know how to do a pretty ponytail but instead is a disaster, is really hard to use it on my hair and I have thin fine hair and I thought it would really easy to use on my type of hair but instead couldn't get it through the middle of the thing and it was fallen all out. A total disaster! Not recommend it.1
This product didn't work on my hair - which is fine and layered. It was interesting to try, but I definitely wouldn't buy another one.2
I have a short bob, so this product is not functional for me.1
this is neat but doesn't blow me away. It's easy but can take a little to work.2
This actually works to make a neat bun, though it's probably best if you have lots of thick hair.4
i wasn't too happy with this product. i got it as a sample this month but as i have short and very fine hair, it doesn't do anything helpful for me. i'm sure it would work a lot better for girls with a lot of hair.1
I have very long hair and I'm not sure if this will hold a full bun in place .2
I have long (several inches past my shoulders), fine hair-but lots of it. I decided to try it for a high bun. I put my hair in a high ponytail first and then followed the directions on the package. I did have to use a couple extra bobby pins to make sure the half up could hold the weight of my hair in shape that high up, but it worked well. It's not perfect, but just like any other hair accessory or style assist product under 10.00, it's not going to be. I'd recommend it and will be using it often.4
Loved the concept of this product. I have long hair and only wear it two ways..up or down because I don't have the time nor patience to do much with it. I was only limited to half up style but I plan to purchase the full product soon since I have very thick and long hair. Looking forward to it.
PS- it can be a little tricky at first if you follow their instructions.. It's more like PULL APART the device... not pinch it. Spent a few minutes trying to figure it out but once I did, it worked great.
