A favorite of fashion bloggers, off-duty models, and the rest of us on the hunt for an easy weekend look, the ubiquitous topknot shows no signs of abating. But much like winning a round of Candy Crush Saga, the seemingly simple do can be tricky to master. With this plight in mind, hair genius Sarah Potempa created The WRAP UP, a nifty tool that helps you score the perfect topknot, sleek chignon, or tousled low bun. Made with strong, cushy foam, The WRAP UP secures your updo without the help of a zillion bobby pins. Three hair color-matching options, Black, Brunette, and Blonde, ensure your secret weapon remains a secret.
I love love love my new wrap up. I have long hair and have been wanting a wrap that would work with my hair length. The wrap up is easy and quick to use . I would definitely recommend it to others.5
This product is really great for when I am running late for work and need a quick hairdo, especially when I don't want to wash my hair.4
This completely failed on anything like a sock bun for me; I was only able to manage a little bun with the top half of my hair. That stayed well, but isn't really a look I like to wear, so not really recommending this one.2
It took a few tries to figure out how to get it just right, but I love this tool for getting a huge, ballerina bun! I watched the Birchbox tutorial a few times (as an aside, if you haven't already definitely check out the Birchbox hair videos, there are some really good ones) before I tried it out. What I like most about it is that it doesn't need to be perfect. You can have a few hair sticking out here and there, and it still holds your bun like crazy.
I can see that it would be harder to use with short or fine hair though. Also, my hair is REALLY dark, like espresso brown, so I have no issues with the color peaking out, but I'm not sure how it would work for people with pronounced highlights or lighter hair.
I use this tool any time I want to wear a sock bun. I love it and it's so easy to use. I have fine, thin hair and it works great; however if my hair was thick, I'm not sure it would work as well.5
The Good: For a low maintenance girl like myself, I found this product to be extremely user friendly, and that's a major plus. Just make a pony tail, pull your hair through the slit in the middle of the wrap, position the wrap near the ends of your hair, then roll and tuck. I found that the Wrap Up held tight, and although a few of my shorter layers peeked out, I feel like my bun was secure throughout the day, despite me being rather careless about maintaining my style.
The Bad: The Wrap Up is thick and cushy which might be excellent for those users with long or thick hair. I have extremely fine, wavy hair that falls about two inches below my shoulders. There is no possible way I could get my hair to cover the Wrap Up in its entirety. No matter how I tried, foam was going to show through. I'm growing my hair out, so I'll see if I can cover it in a few months, but for right now, it'll be hard for me to replicate the thick, lush bun or topknot mentioned in the description.
When I bought this product I was unsure because my hair had lots of layers. However, it works great! I got the blonde one and no one notices it!
Tip: the looser you want your bun the looser you have to put together the two ends, but I found securing with a bobby pin does the trick!
This tool is amazing. I have thin, straight, fine, long, blonde hair and it's almost impossible to do anything with. I can use this product in washed hair with minimal product (usually a spritz of hairspray after) and only 1-2 bobby pins and it stays looks beautiful all day. Love love love. Totally worth the price; really nice quality. I would (and have already) recommended this to friends.5
It work so very well I cannot love it more, it really works well on layered hair and is a perfect , quick way to deal with middle of the week hair styles5
I have both sizes of this product. I haven't been able to master the bun or half bun yet. I have long layers and they pop out every time. I am sure this may work better with longer hair without layers.3
