A favorite of fashion bloggers, off-duty models, and the rest of us on the hunt for an easy weekend look, the ubiquitous topknot shows no signs of abating. But much like winning a round of Candy Crush Saga, the seemingly simple do can be tricky to master. With this plight in mind, hair genius Sarah Potempa created The WRAP UP, a nifty tool that helps you score the perfect topknot, sleek chignon, or tousled low bun. Made with strong, cushy foam, The WRAP UP secures your updo without the help of a zillion bobby pins. Three hair color-matching options, Black, Brunette, and Blonde, ensure your secret weapon remains a secret.
This thing does work. It rolled right up, fastened, and hid in my hair. But I'm not sure I love the result. It's kind of a wide bun. I think it makes you appear to have more hair because the thing is padded, and it does hold well, but it's just a bun. Nothing revolutionary. I'm going to play with it some more to see if I can do something cooler. But it's not a must have for now.3
It took me a while to figure out the best way to wear this. I have long, super-thick layered hair and I start rolling it at the shortest layer. It helps if you can get it as tight to your head as possible before wrapping it around into the bun. I would definitely recommend this if you don't mind playing around with it for a while.
I was originally introduced to this product when I received the Half Up in my box one month. I was impressed with how easy the Half Up was to use, but it couldn't quite hold all of my hair up (which makes sense since it is the Half Up). Since I wear my hair in a bun all the time, I was intrigued by the Wrap Up and decided to order one. And let me tell you, the Wrap Up does not disappoint. It's super easy to use, even I can do it- and I can barely blowdry my hair, let alone actually style it. The first time I wore it was before a 12 hour shift at the hospital. My hair stayed put the whole time and I received multiple compliments and questions as to how my bun was so perfect. In fact, one of my coworkers ordered a Wrap Up that night! Quite possibly the best part was after taking my hair down (12 hours later), I discovered that the Wrap Up had curled my hair gorgeously! I normally have very straight, rather flat hair so this was a wonderful surprise. I'm now trying to experiment with the Wrap Up as a method for curling my hair- a perfect top knot during the day, gorgeous curls that night!5
I have long layered hair and this tool makes great buns in my hair. it's super easy and blends with my hair color.5
I absolutely love this product! I have really long, thick hair and this can hold it all! It is super simple to use and looks adorable! By far the best bun/chignon tool I have ever bought...and I have tried a lot! Way better than a sock bun, lol :)5
I've used this only once and a friend had to borrow it. It worked pretty well as long as I started rolling from my first long layer. I have long thick hair and this held well with some bobby pins. I do wonder how long it will last though, seemed kind of flimsy.3
I must be alone in this, but I've never gotten anything in this genre of products to work for me. I'm sure it's great if it works with your hair, but be aware it doesn't with everyone's.1
I have really long hair and tried to use this to make a bun -- it just looks messy and not at all polished. the idea is nice, but a sock works much better.3
This thing is awesome. I have not been able to master the sock bun with out little bits of my hair sticking out everywhere or it not feeling tight or secure enough. With this thing, I can do whatever I want and my hair doesnt budge :)5
I love this. It is just really handy to have. I have super long, really thick hair. I wish it was a little sturdier. It tends to sag if I wear it longer than an hour or so just because my hair is so heavy.4
