Invented by celebrity hairstylist Sarah Potempa, this game-changing curling iron is genius enough to crown her the Thomas Edison of hot tools. Her light-bulb equivalent of a beauty breakthrough? The steel rod rotates on its own, saving you the trouble of manually wrapping your curls—and ensuring that your ringlets are evenly spaced. At the press of a button, the rotating curling iron gently winds each lock of hair around its heated ceramic rod (and stops as soon as you let go). The rod can be switched to rotate clockwise or counterclockwise, so your curls always twist away from your face. Eureka!
I was SO EXCITED for this product. My hair is LONG, past my mid-back, blonde, chemically treated. I read other reviews, and it too pulled some of my hair out as well, not too concerning for me though bc it didn't hurt. Curls didn't last longer than 30 min and you can only make it go left or right. Other wands you can manipulate your hair a few ways and depending on how you hold the wand depends on the type of curl that is produced. I bought the sedu 25mm wand, hands down...sedu wand is 100% better than this. I have NO IDEA where the good reviews come from..they must have super thin shoulder length hair. BUY A SEDU!!! or a NUME!2
I was really excited to use this product. I was hesitant to purchase it due to the price. I have naturally wavy hair, and it usually can keep a curl with no problem. I think this curling iron is easy to use, and I was able to curl my hair quickly. Although I don't think the curls last long at all. Minutes after using the iron my hair looks flat, and the curl goes away. I have used the product numerous times with different styling products, and have the same result.2
I was very excited about this product because I needed something to reduce the time it takes to curl my long, thin hair. I really enjoyed how easy it was to use this, but I do not like the clamp mark it makes at the end of my hair.3
First of all - this wand is much larger than I expected. For a petite person I had no idea If I was going to be able to use it properly. It takes a lot of practice but it does as advertised and creates beachg waves in either direction. I wouldn't bank on this creating perfect waves for an event until you've practiced using the button and your hand position but not having to remember which way to rotate your hand is great. Also, with practice you can get other types of curls so I'm going to keep using mine and hope that this is finally a curling wand I can keep using for a long time!4
THE GOOD: I just got this thing two days ago and have used it twice already-- it's great. It took me about 25 minutes to curl my hair all the way around (I have long hair and a lot of it) the first time, and right around 20 min the second time. I'm thinking after a few more tries I can knock it down to around 15? Which is pretty awesome in my opinion!
THE BAD: The wand is enormous. I couldn't tell by the photo how big this thing was going to be. Even my husband's eyes bulged when he saw it. I'm a small girl with small hands so this was a little hard for me to handle, but I'm getting better and I think I will eventually do fine with it. Also, the instructions say to always clamp the hair with the clamp facing inward toward you, and I disagree with that. If you do it that way on the left side you get clamp marks on your hair! But it works fine that way on the right. So on the LEFT- clamp outward, and on the RIGHT- clamp inward. Remember that :) And lastly be careful not to accidentally click the "GO" button before you're ready. It will start spinning on you and mess you all up. Someone else mentioned their hair getting stuck but I had no issues with that at all. I just made sure the little "kickstand" thing was pushed down so it wasn't in the way at all.
THE UGLY: As I mentioned, the wand is huge. It's also very hot. I had it set at 350 which was the default temp and also what it said was necessary for my type of hair. When I was curling the back of my head, my hand got tired and I unintentionally dropped my wrist to relax. The wand touched the back of my next for a split second and left me a nasty 2 inch burn mark. So, beware of this!
All that said, I love this thing and am so happy I got it. I definitely recommend it!
I love that it has the right/left function. My only critique is that the buttons are sensitive and occasionally as I am placing hair in the clip it switches sides without me realizing I hit the button.4
Really love this curling iron, worth the money. Easy to use and gives hair the perfect amount of curl. Stays in place for whole days and the video demo helped.4
I just got my beachwaver about a week ago and I'm still playing around with how to perfect curling my hair. This is a game changer for sure!!! I love how easy it is to curl my hair thanks to it now!4
Really great curler. BE CAREFUL not to touch the wand...it is seriously hot. But the temp adjusts, which is a nifty little feature. It's better on thicker sections...hard to get the little wisps around my face to stay in the curler, and I question whether it would work for short hair. But for my long, slightly curly hair, this was amazing! Tamed my frizz and made smooth, gorgeous, beachy curls as promised. And the rotating barrel is truly genius. It works almost like a curling wand but without the need for a glove.4
This tool is so great. I'm super uncoordinated but this curler helps me to achieve waves I never could with the traditional kind. I would recommend using a heat-protectant glove, though!4
