We fully appreciate when a brand tells it like it is. This Is a Sea Salt Spray is, you guessed it, a sea salt spray. But we're thinking they may want to tweak the name slightly—something more along the lines of This Is a Life-Changing Sea Salt Spray. Hair is left looking perfectly imperfect, full of sexy post-beach texture and volume. Better yet, this spray is paraben-free and moisturizes hair to boot.
I've tried several sea salt sprays and none of them seem quite right for my fine, straight hair so I decided to take a chance and order this product based off the reviews. This was a great purchase for me! My hair needs a little product to add volume and texture -- this spray delivers without feeling heavy or sticky.5
I have thick straight hair that is heavy so it often looks very flat. After I get done washing, conditioning and brushing I use this on my damp hair. I flip my hair upside down and spray this in among the layers. Then flip back up to upright, spray some in again and shake it out. Lastly I comb through one more time and shake out again. I end up with a lot more volume than I normally would have in my hair and some texture/hold, all very natural looking. If I am at home while my hair is drying, I will shake it out and brush a few more times.
This also smells wonderful, I love it.
I am always surprised by people who think that sea salt sprays leave them with "sticky" hair. This is designed to mimic the effects of the beach/ocean on the hair and this is exactly what this product does. Your hair is not "clean feeling" when you get out of the ocean but it is soft, textured and has a lot of hold. This is what this product does. I can just guess that the people who are surprised by how this feels have never actually been to the beach/ocean.
Sea salt spray (no matter what brand), definitely doesn't work with my very long hair. It just makes it looks tangled. I think there are other products out there to give that beachy look without clogging my strands with salt. If I had a short pixie cut, maybe this would work better.2
I have used many sea salt spray hair products and this one is by far the best. If I use it on damp hair I get a ton of volume and texture after air drying and scrunching a bit. I'll even throw a little more in after it's dry to get the perfect piece-y beach look. I get compliments on how 'soft' my hair looks when I use this, I've even had one guy reach out and touch my hair without asking! It's a great product, you get quite a bit of it and I think the container will last me a while. The shine is a nice surprise for a beach spray, this is definitely not super matte or drying. I love the scent, it's like vanilla almond with a little sun and sand thrown in. Very subtle and not cloying at all. Worth the price, can't recommend this product enough!5
i've always had a hard time with the beach sprays or hair texturizers... they usually leave your hair hard or crunchy, and can visibly flake. the first couple of times that i used this spray i was pleasantly surprised -- my hair was softer than expected, and flaking was minimal. when used another time, though, when hair wasn't fully wet from shower, it felt much more brittle/dry... then i made the mistake of wearing black! there was a light coat of a white powder on my shoulders and upper back -- wherever my long hair reached, the product was rubbing off onto the clothes. although it didn't flake, it didn't look right and i looked sloppy all day. i have taken to using only when wearing light colored or strapless sundresses (easy in miami), as i want to use it up because it was expensive... but i would not buy this again.3
did wonders over the last 2 weeks of rainy weather... didn't weigh my hair down and left it in flirty waves5
I like this sea salt spray a lot more than some of the others I've tried through Birchbox. I will definitely use up the sample.5
Loved the sweet smell of this spray and the texturizing effects, but found my hair to be pretty dry after using it and felt the need to re wash and moisturizer more quickly than I normally do3
I've tried a number of sea salt sprays, and this one is one of the best. I actually prefer it to Bumble & Bumble's. It's not too sticky and creates just the right amount of volume. It also smells amazing. Highly recommend!5
I've tried many, many other sea salt sprays, and most either way down my hair or make it so tacky that it ends up a huge tangled mess by the end of the day. I love to use this sea salt spray on dry hair to give it just a touch of mussed up beachy texture.5
