Sometimes wrangling our curls seems so challenging, we wish we could send our locks to hair obedience school. Luckily, Miss Jessie’s (aka the curl-whisperer) trains hair to behave itself. Exhibit A: This gentle wide-toothed comb. Use it to thoroughly detangle kinked strands while minimizing breakage (the main cause of frizz) and keeping your ringlets intact.
I agree with some other posters that the prongs are a tad sharp, but this comb got the snarls out of my thick hair with ease in minutes.4
This does indeed get rid of my tangles in a jiffy. I do wish it was a bit thicker but it does the job.3
I was excited to get this comb because, as every curly girl knows, it's hard to drag a comb through curls. If the times are not shaped just right, it's torture. The first morning I used this comb, I dug right in, literally, and sent my scalp tingling! The end of the tines were SO SHARP! Did it go through my curls? Yes. Was the comb great? Yes. But I have to be so careful not to pierce my scalp. I'm going to go after the tips with an emery board and see if it help.3
This is one rugged comb. I liked it to get through my wavy hair. The only thing I didn't love about it, is that the ends of the tines were a little hard on my scalp.5
So I feel like at the very minimum, when you're using a comb or brush or any product for that matter, you shouldn't fear it breaking while you're using it. Miss Jessie's® Original Detangling Comb might work well for thinner, less tangly hair… But for those girls like me who have a full, tangled mess on their head, this is probably not the comb for you. As a southern girl, my hair is teased, curled, and hairspriayed daily. To minimize the damage that product and heat tools do on my hair, I often skip a day of shampooing/conditionering… So when it does come time to clean, there are LOTS of nots. This comb hasn't broken on me yet, but I feel like it's only a matter of time.3
I needed a comb for my purse, the drug store combs I was buying kept breaking. For the price this is a great comb, and I don't even have curly hair :).4
I know this comb is marketed toward curly girls so I suppose I should have read the product specs more closely but this comb is not for me. I have thick shoulder length strands are fairly straight. I was hoping this comb would be a champion detangler as the longer & blonder my locks get, the bigger the tangles. The comb's teeth are set nice and wide however they come to a point that seem to do more harm then good as I attempt to comb leave-in conditioner through my hair. The pointy teeth also hurt my scalp and actually got stuck in my hair. The material the comb is constructed of doesn't have any slip to it; it almost felt like wood.1
Best comb! I have long long thick hair that is always a pain to comb when wet. This comb does wonders.5
The fastest way to make your curls frizzy it to grab a brush and brush through your hair when it is dry. This breaks up the curls and creates a big ball of frizz!
Use this large, sturdy, wide toothed beach-style comb on wet hair. You can use it with or without leave -n conditioner, oils or styling product.
Allow your hair to air dry. You'll get some lovely springy curls rather than a halo of frizz. :)
This was a great last minute purchase. It's a simple comb, but it goes great with curls. I haven't noticed a huge difference with the amount of frizz, but it 's gentle and glides through hair without too much effort.3
