When it comes to makeup, we’re with Kermit: It’s not easy being green. But Inika, a cosmetics range that’s as rigorously au naturel as it is au courant, makes being eco-friendly downright effortless. We’re smitten with the brand’s certified organic eyeliners, which come in rich, long-lasting colors and deliver guilt-free drama. Bonus: The lid doubles as a sharpener.
Eco-friendly, organic cosmetics—what a great idea! I received the INIKA "Green Lagoon" eye liner. The color is beautiful and subtle.
However, the lasting power of the liner is poor. I found myself removing green "raccoon" smudging underneath my eyes at least four times during the day. Also the color does not transfer easily from the pencil to your skin during application, surprising given the ease with which smudging occurs after application.
If INIKA adjusts their eyeliner formula in the future, I will give the product a try again. Until then, it's back to the drawing board.
The texture of this pencil is nice and blends well. I received the green in my February box. The color is pale and shimmery. Although lovely, it is much too light to serve as a proper eyeliner. I'd prefer and mossier green for a liner.2
I don't love pencil eyeliners they don't show up as well in my opinion but this brand is one of the best I've used. While I loved the shade (I have blue eyes and the Green Lagoon looked great/fun with my eye color) I don't think I would get it again.3
I love how smoothly this eyeliner goes on and I love the color as well. It's a bit metallic-y so I wasn't sure if I'd like it at first, but honestly, it complements my green eyes very nicely. My sister even used some tonight on her lower lid and it made her eyes really pop! I've never tried colored eyeliner before and I am very impressed with this product.
PS: Made in Italy. NOT China, for once. Thank goodness.
I very rarely wear eyeliner, so with that in mind, I thought it was alright. The green color is unique and I like the functionality of the sharpener placed on the eyeliner.3
I usually prefer twist-up eyeliner, but this was a great pencil. Since I have green eyes, I love the Green Lagoon.4
Pros: This product is smooth and creamy. It goes on easily, and has a lovely shimmer - not too sparkly and definitely not overdone! The green lagoon (10) is really pretty, not too intensely green or dark, so it seems to open up the eye a little. And, it is not only organic but also vegan, halal, and not tested on animals! The sharpener on the cap is also handy! I found this color really complemented my hazel eyes.
Cons: I think I must somehow have oily eyelids, so the product didn't stay put for more than three hours or so. However, I think this would work well for girls with drier skin (given its creamy texture) or for oilier girls if you've got a primer to help it last a little longer or are willing to do a little touch-up every few hours.
Takeaway: I might start wearing eyeliner regularly because I love the way this looks! I'll just use a little eye shadow or a primer to keep it in place because I love the color!
I was skeptical at how well I would like an organic eyeliner, but it was great! Went on very smooth, was so easy to apply. I also loved the sharpener-lid. The shimmery green color was not my favorite, but the product itself was very nice.4
I will start by saying I LOVE the sharpener, it fits on the pencil like a cap! But I didn't love the color - green lagoon, it was very light which made the color a statement and meant I couldn't really wear it with other makeup, which isn't what I look for in eyeliner. I also did not like how creamy it was, I felt as though it smudged too easily and I couldn't put it very close to my eyelashes without it getting all over them. It's also sparkly.2
It's cool that it has a built in sharpener, however I would have liked it more if it was an automatic crayon.4
