Come winter, our skin can get drier than a Diablo Cody script—but unlike the screenwriter’s sense of humor, there’s nothing very funny about it. Luckily, the skincare wizards at ARCONA have our backs (or rather, our faces). This featherlight gel works three ways to keep your skin in high spirits: It moisturizes, neutralizes free radicals, and keeps pores clear—leaving you glowing and dewy-faced through the colder months and beyond. Bonus: It’s great for all skin types!
It's a decent product, but not worth the price for me.3
This was rather disappointing. It felt sticky and I didn't like the feel of it on my face. I was also rather confused as to whether it was meant to be a moisturizer or wear it underneath my moisturizer.1
I have oily skin, very oily skin. Moisturizers have always been a hot button issue for me. I avoided them for many years until multiple sources informed me that me skin needed it or else it would just continue to throw out massive amounts of oil. So my quest began....
Most moisturizers are way too heavy and oily for me. I get shiny and greasy, and any makeup will slide off in as little as two hours. Even moisturizers made for acne prone or oily skin would leaving me very shiny after a few hours. It didn't matter if I skipped it, as my own natural shine would kick in.
Always keeping an eye out for something that could help, I may have found it... Not quite magic, but my sample of white ice as served me well. It's lightweight, absorbs quick and doesn't leave me greasier than fried chicken in a matter of hours. This product has performed better than anything else I used.
I just had two concerns. One being the smell. When I first put it on, it was like cherry cough syrup. It fades pretty quick, I stopped noticing and no one else could smell it. The price was a little steep for me, but a little went a long way. While not quite the magic I have been looking for, it comes pretty close.
To be completely honest, I really did not like using this product. I received it in my December 2013 Birchbox and was very excited to try it because it sounded awesome! Just so you know, I consider my skin type to be "dry-combination" because I often get dry patches and my skin usually doesn't get too oily. It is also kind of sensitive. I am 18 years old and my skin is still prone to breakouts.
Product Smell: I didn't really like it, I thought it kind of smelled like medicine.
Product Texture: The texture was nice; it was thin and applied almost like a serum
Application: I applied it right after washing my face so my skin could better absorb it. This moisturizer felt uncomfortable on my face and made it feel kind of sticky. I'm not sure how to describe it, but it was an unusual feeling. I guess you could say it was somewhat hydrating.
When Applying Make-up: The stickiness/ tackiness of this product made it hard to blend in my BB cream and start my usual make-up routine. I have dark circles, so I always apply my under-eye concealer. However, when I applied it I noticed that it simply wouldn't blend in and this was really frustrating. It's as if the two products were repelling each other (as weird as that sounds!).
Purchasing?: I do not plan on purchasing this product.
Reccommendation?: I do not recommend purchasing this product because (in my opinion) it was very uncomfortable to use. I didn't find it to be worth the price. If you have the opportunity to try it for free, you might find it works for you though!
Thank you anyways, Birchbox! :)
P.S. I did not mean to sound so negative, I just wanted to be completely honest about my experience with this product!
I actually really love the way this feels, and the smell is great!4
I loved the smell and wanted to love the product, but I don't feel that it was enough moisturizer for my dry skin. And I don't feel like paying $40 dollars to give it a better try than what I sampled.3
You know, I'm just not a big fan of things that you put on your skin that don't feel like lotion. It works okay, but it's just not for me.2
I like the texture and the scent, it worked well, but I'm not sure it would replace my current routine. Maybe when I run out!3
A tiny bit of this covers your entire face -- like, less than the size of a pea! This moisturizer has a faint grape smell which is nice but might not be the best if you have sensitivities. However, I didn't feel that it moisturized as well as other products I've used in the past. It's also a bit sticky.3
I like the scent and the texture. I think it works best when applied while my skin is still damp, and I think it would be great during the summer. Right now, the winter here is so viciously cold, wet and windy that no amount of this lovely feeling and pleasantly scent moisturizer piled on my skin will be enough. I thought I might save the other half of the tube and see how I feel when the weather is less harsh. As far as price point, which holds me back, and I have a fabulous moisturizer which is heavier and longer acting and in the same price range which already holds my heart in winter.4
