To keep contestants’ faces shine-free under pressure (and scalding-hot stage lights), makeup artists for shows like American Idol and The Glee Project turn to this mattifying gel. The fast-drying formula creates an intermediate layer that absorbs grease for eight full hours. Use it to score a matte, shine-free look—with or without the help of makeup. Alcohol-free and oil-free, it’s safe for even acne-prone skin. Get ready for your close-up.
I love mattifying gels because I have very oily skin. I will be keeping these in my purse for emergencies. I love that they are individually wrapped. I wish the product came like that when you purchase the full size.5
Not a huge fan of this product. I have a cheaper primer that works great and doesn't cost as much. It was nice to try but not a favorite.3
It was ok. I already have a product that I use that I'm happy with.3
I have oily skin, so I am always trying to achieve a matte look and am curious about products that boast long wear. I was disappointed by the size of these foil packets (sooo tiny), but gave it a try. In less than an hour (it claims 8 hour wear... pft) my skin was oily and this product did pretty much nothing to keep my skin matte. This is a pricey product and it just didn't work for me. I wouldn't buy or recommend.1
I really actually love this product, but I typically try not to fall in love with any daily use products that are over $40. That being said, I really like the way this makes my makeup stay put and makes my skin look great! The only negative I have is that is smells bad.4
Pretty simple, this stuff works. I was surprised because my skin tends to be on the oily side, but it really does help with shine for an extended period of time. It's $41 for the full size which disappointingly is a bit outside of my price range for a product but a little goes a long way! So if you like it, it might be worth the money.5
I like this product a lot. It is a nice base to add before makeup4
While I like that it is a cream as opposed to a gel, I don't think it was effective enough for the price. My forehead and nose are always very shiny, and even with this product, I didn't really notice a difference. However, it had a very soft feel and I'll continue to use the sample.2
I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this gel. I have very dry skin, and haven't used a mattifyer since middle school. I tried a dab today as directed (under makeup over moisturizer) and 5 very humid hours later, honestly, can't tell a difference. The texture was nice (more a light cream than "gel") and the scent was not obtrusive. I liked that I got two nicely sized packets and will pass them along to a friend.1
I was excited to use this, since I live in the humid Southeast and I also have redness issues. I used my sunscreen/primer, which has shine to it, then put the gel on top. It went on smoothly, and I feel like it definitely cut down on the shine that typically comes through my makeup.4
