We hate polish chips almost as much as we love painting our nails (and that’s saying a lot). Through (lots of) trial and error, we’ve found that the key to long-lasting wear is actually pretty simple: a strong foundation. Without it, nail polish chips and flakes in record time. This top quality lacquer by the pros at NYC-based Ruffian sets a solid base to ensure smooth application and long-lasting wear. Goodbye chips, hello color.
Used this and the same brand top coat and it didn't work well I had my nail polish on for one day and the whole polish peeled off my finger like a sticker. My cheap base works better then this1
This base coat makes your polish peel off like a sticker. I love my other Ruffian polishes (including the top coat) but I'd skip this one if I had it to do over. I use the Ruffian top coat for both a base and a top now.1
Every time I've used this base coat, my nail polish has peeled off - Like, the polish from the entire nail, in one big flake. I've tried it under different polishes, and always seen the same result, naked nails by the end of the next day. I actually threw it away so I wouldn't be tempted to try it again. I am so disappointed, and also surprised, as I've has great luck with the polishes from this brand.1
I am a big fan of the Ruffian brand since I first received a sample and have a few of the polishes which are terrific. As a base coat this is ok but not better than any other I've used and less value for money as it's a much smaller size than others.3
The sample color seemed to last so I was expecting the basecoat to be great. It's not. I don't get a days wear out of it.1
While I love their actual colors, the base coat really isn't great. My polish also chipped when I used the base coat while using other bases/top coats, the polish lasted a week. Skip this and buy a color you love!1
I have now used this base coat for two at-home mani's and for both, I had nail chips within 2 hours. In some cases, even, the entire nail of polish will come off! I still love the ruffian packaging, but I'd go for a different base coat.2
I had really high hopes for this base coat. I tried it out one evening by itself and by the next morning it was flaking off all over the place. So then I tried it again when I gave myself a fresh mani and pedi, and it caused the polish to also flake off after only a day. I'll try to use it up, but won't be purchasing again...nothing so far beats Butter London's base coat.2
I was really excited to try this basecoat, but was surprised when the next day the polish started chipping. Not only was it a chip here and there but it was coming off like the peel off polish made for children. I tried it a few more times just to be sure it was the ruffian base coat ( i really hoped it wasn't) and i got the same result. It didn't even last a day. Oddly enough, my toes are going on week two and there is not a single chip in them. Not sure what that is about...none the less, I threw away the very small bottle.1
A good base coat is very important to me. I do my own manicure at least once a week. This is a great basecoat. My polish has been lasting longer and that speaks volumes.5
