Adding a top coat is like frosting a cake—it’s the essential final step that makes everything so much sweeter. The geniuses behind NYC fashion house Ruffian don’t mess around—this top coat dries to a high-gloss finish and keeps polish intact for days (really!). No chips? Now that’s pretty sweet.
I had never tried this brand before and thought that at $10.00 a bottle, it would be a quality top coat. My nails chipped 2 days after I polished them and used this top coat. Would not recommend it at all.1
I really like this formula, it keeps nails from chipping longer than usual, but the only thing I don't like is the tiny bottle. It's like a sample size! I used it 3 times and I'm almost halfway done with the bottle4
I bought this because I needed an extra cheap item to qualify for a freebie. I lost my top coat so I decided to buy this one despite seeing some bad reviews. I've always bought cheap drugstore top coat and I don't know if there's a difference or not, but I didn't have a problem with this top coat at all. It does what it is supposed to do.4
This top coat polish has a very nice shine to it. My nail polish did chip the next day on one finger with two coats of polish, but overall it is a good top coat.3
There weren't any instructions that came with this, so I used it as a top coat: just painted my nails as usual and then applied this product over the polish. It was awful. It had a dull look (not the shiny look that a top coat is known for), it was sticky (not smooth) and I ended up removing it from my nails less than 24 hours after applying it. I may have missed something (I almost hope I did) but if I didn't, this product should be seriously reformulated.1
So yes this is a small bottle. It doesn't perform magic, but it does what a top coat should (I guess?) it's shiny and I think my polish chipped less than on its own.
I didn't have the peeling issue others had.
It's definitely a good product, but I can't say it's better than any drug store polish I've gotten.
Biggest plus? Super shiny and dries fast.
Minus? Very small bottle and huff price
This product is exactly what it says it is, a varnish lol ! Yes, it is a top coat. I am very pleased with the protection it gives my nail color!5
Most top coats I have used don't hold up real well but this one seems to do the trick pretty good. Lasted a couple of days and I was doing lot of work. It is great.
Took it to my appointment for my manicure and had my girl use my new product professionally on my nails she was impressed and it looks great.5
My sister bought this for me because my nails are thin and also my polish is always a "chipped mess". (as she calls it) She has been trying to get me to buy a top coat for years to make my nails stronger and keep them from chipping. I just can't see paying so much for no color. Well this Top Coat actually made my polish peel off all in one piece. It was crazy. I tried using my different brands of polish under it and it did the same to all of them. Even my salon quality polishes! I can only use it extremely thin, which defeats the purpose. I still have the same problem. I really will never chance wasting my money on a clear polish now. I'm just sorry that my sister did. Maybe I'll get one that actually works in one of my BirchBoxes :)1
