Adding a top coat is like frosting a cake—it’s the essential final step that makes everything so much sweeter. The geniuses behind NYC fashion house Ruffian don’t mess around—this top coat dries to a high-gloss finish and keeps polish intact for days (really!). No chips? Now that’s pretty sweet.
Took it to my appointment for my manicure and had my girl use my new product professionally on my nails she was impressed and it looks great.5
My sister bought this for me because my nails are thin and also my polish is always a "chipped mess". (as she calls it) She has been trying to get me to buy a top coat for years to make my nails stronger and keep them from chipping. I just can't see paying so much for no color. Well this Top Coat actually made my polish peel off all in one piece. It was crazy. I tried using my different brands of polish under it and it did the same to all of them. Even my salon quality polishes! I can only use it extremely thin, which defeats the purpose. I still have the same problem. I really will never chance wasting my money on a clear polish now. I'm just sorry that my sister did. Maybe I'll get one that actually works in one of my BirchBoxes :)1
Have tried this brand's colored polishes and been happy, but this top coat disappointed. I'll continue to use my current favorite which lasts longer and isn't as expensive. Sorry, didn't last "for days" for me.3
I purchased this product because I've been on a quest to find a great chip-proof top coat. I have used this only once, with other 'chip-free' products that usually work quite well, and am very disappointed. The usual brand of polish and chip-free basecoats usually last me a few days, at least. With only changing the top coat to this product, my nails were chipped within 12 hours. This was not worth the price.... at all.1
This brush needed to be worked in a bit, but after the first hand it started laying flat when brushing. Then the polish was a bit tacky and I was afraid it was going to finish clumpy but the end result is smooth. Wearability is good, I'm rough with my hands and most polishes flake off in one day.4
I ordered this because I needed a top coat nail polish. I love it! Great product. It does what it says it will. I love ruffian polishes.4
I bought this on a whim and it is fantastic! It goes on very evenly and dries super fast. Plus, after a week of my nails being painted, no chips and no peeling!5
I've given subscriptions to three different friends—and I have gotten both my mom and aunt to sign up—and they have all loved it. If you ever trade product/beauty advice with friends or family, this is a sure thing. Make sure they fill out their online profile, though, so they get more of the types of samples they like. My mom says she gets too many shimmery shadows and bright lip colors. While she is a beautiful, stylish lady, those are things she just doesn't use at 60!5
I used this with the sample nail polish I got in Octobers box and it works great! my nails lasted about a week, they could've lasted longer I suppose, But I got bored with the color and had to switch up.5
First and foremost, my nail polish has been on for two weeks (and I'm not easy on manicures), and is barely chipped. This topcoat does take a while to dry and is easy to mess up with dents, fingerprints, or random textures off of surfaces you may touch accidentally during that time. It's also not quite as high gloss as I'd hoped for, which could have to do with the previous point, however. To keep my nails going two weeks, I added another coat of top coat after the first week. For the first time in a while, I think I may have to strip them down because I'm bored with the color, not because it's so chipped up it's no longer appropriate for going out in public. As with the other Ruffian nail products I've tried, I do think the design of the cap makes it easier to control, so there's not as much polish that ends up where I didn't want it to.3
