This sleek zinc keychain could probably get by on looks alone, but don't be surprised if you find yourself touting its more practical charms. Besides doubling as a handy stylus for any touchscreen, the special clamping mechanism also connects sturdily and safely to the side of your smartphone to serve as a stand—so you can keep your hands free and your business in sight.
This thing has some very niche uses. I do like propping my phone up, but not sure if it's worth the price. It opens by screwing/unscrewing the rubber tip at the bottom, I would have preferred a spring mechanism. Keyring makes it convenient to have when you need it. It is what it is! Probably other uses available for it, be creative.2
To be honest, I never found a need for a stylus. But this thing didn't work as one. I found that it took way too long to type with this considering that you have to press hard at the right angle to hit the right key. I do like the stand feature, I found I use it much more as that.3
So, I would never put this on my keyring for its incredible girth. Removing one of its functions, bringing it down to a 2-in-1. The stylus didn't work whatsoever, bringing it down to a 1-in-1. The kickstand's just not necessary for me. I would never have purchased this -- especially since it's simply a $30 iffy kickstand for a phone.1
i love this product; have put it to use immediately once i received it and it works like a charm. functionality, styling and application all 100% - i highly recommend this for purchase; i'm highly thinking of buying as presents for family.5
I think this is a really handy gadget! It works really well with my iPhone, and I can also use the stylus on my iPad.4
I was excited about the potential to use this as a stylus, but found that it was basically unusable on my iPad. I kept having to re-draw a line or letter -- meanwhile, I could write almost as legibly, and infinitely more reliably, with my finger. That's on top of the fact that using this stylus to write or draw for more than a minute or two would be super uncomfortable.
The use as a stand is fine, although I felt like I was going to crack my phone's case tightening the grip.
Overally, a disappointing product from Quirky - who often have very useful, well-designed products.
At first, I was a little excited to see the stylus/stand in my birchbox. But through my first trials with it, I was incredibly disappointed. Here were a couple things that I noticed:
1. The product itself is aesthetically very appealing and looks well made. However, the top black, plastic piece popped off almost immediately! It was barely set in, and I know that if I were to actually keep it on a key-chain, it would break quickly.
2. As a phone stand, I had to take off my camera case to use it because it couldn't grip my phone in a way that would hold it up. EVEN with the case off, I could barely touch the screen without the phone toppling over. Definitely a bummer.
3. Even with a Samsung Galaxy, the stylus barely registers on my screen. It's possible that there are other devices that it would make more sense to use on, but for me it is completely worthless to use.
The one thing that I could find myself using it for is to hold my phone up just enough to watch videos, but only if it's resting on a stable surface. And honestly, I have a computer for that.
I was very disappointed that this was the main item in my box this month. I would have rather had more samples that I could have used. It is possible that with a different phone, this could be helpful. But due to the quality, I would not recommend it to anyone.
Solidly made but the stylus end doesn't work unless you make contact with the rubber tip itself, which sort of defeats the purpose when you can easily use your finger instead. My iPad is too heavy to be held up by the quirky, but the stand works reasonably well with the iPhone.2
The stylus is pretty awesome. Holds up my phone well and is adjustable, so it can attach itself easily to the phone case. Useable, even with a screen protector. However, the keychain part isn't attached to the stylus and can fall off easily.4
For me? No. And I use (and recently lost) a stylus with my iPad, so I was looking forward to this one when I saw it in the October preview. The form factor is too off. It's too thick to keep with the iPad (out of necessity, as it is also designed to attach to a device as a stand) and it is far to bulky to keep handy with a phone. They added a key ring, but 1. no way I want to carry this in my pocket all day, and 2. it doesn't lend itself to using with keys and a tablet or phone. I think it was made of nice materials and thoughtfully designed, certainly beautifully packaged. However, I would think the usability issues would have presented early in the planning. Too large to carry and be useful to me.2
