Ernest Hemingway, exemplar of all things craggy and masculine, was the inspiration for this complex fragrance—but don’t expect notes of rum and tobacco. This is a cultured fragrance for a cultured man. Papa would approve.
This company admittedly produces some great cologne, although overpriced. This cologne just wasn't for me, had the odor of something my grandfather would wear.3
Great scent. Have received numerous compliments about how it smells.5
I really liked the smell of this cologne and it stays for a while, unlike others that lose their scent after a couple hours. It is a little pricey for cologne though.4
Loved the scent, and was especially impressed with the spray dispenser it came in. I've never seen that in cologne samples before, and it was fantastic.5
The sample had a nice scent. I wore it a couple times even though I'm not accustomed to really wearing any fragrance besides a light musk. I doubt I'd buy it but I did overall enjoy the scent.3
I like the brand and the quality of the brand I was just overall happy with the smell for me personally.4
This scent is absolutely amazing. I normally don't go for muskier scents (go-to is normal DG Light Blue or DKNY Be Delicious) but this one is a head turner. A little bit on the correct points, and everyone will tell you how good you smell. My girlfriend actually requests that I wear it for certain occasions, or even couch cuddling. It reminds me of what Hemingway's study might smell like; rich, sweet, smokey, leathery and sophisticated.5
not the first time i got this sample..it smells good and i will probably end up using the whole sample over time but i doubt id spend 125 for a bottle of it.4
It's not the scent of typical current colognes on the market for men - leathery, woodsy, marine, and/or tobacco. It's slightly floral (violet) with a hint of vanilla and amber. It's sweet, but not too sweet. The top notes i.e. juniper, bergamot and orange blossom, are gone within 30min of applying. The rest remains for the rest of the day. This is what men wore 100 years ago - may be too soft for many men today, but for me provides a nice change.4
Birchbox was gifted to me by my wife for valentine's--a much appreciated present.
However, I don't wear fragrances and wonder if this product has been tested on animals.
As for the brand: I like Hemingway's writing. A men's fragrance, however, is not a product I would associate with his particular stamp on the world.
On a somewhat irrelevant note, I love my socks!
And I have adjusted my profile accordingly:)
