Ernest Hemingway, exemplar of all things craggy and masculine, was the inspiration for this complex fragrance—but don’t expect notes of rum and tobacco. Featuring top notes of Italian bergamot, juniper, and black pepper, a heart of orange blossom, Florentine iris, and cinnamon, and a base of vetiver, vanilla, and yellow amber, this is a cultured cologne for a cultured man. Papa would approve.
Perfect fragrance that is very versatile for either wearing to the office or on a night out. Will be purchasing and highly recommend. Only negative is the sample size is a little small...
I've had the hardest time finding a scent that I really love. In my opinion, 1899 is a perfect blend of gentleman and manly-man. And, my wife likes it on me. Sold.5
Ok is about the best I can say about this one. It's fine but just didn't float my boat... It's not bad-- just not for me.3
It is too bad this costs $125 or I'd buy it on the spot. I love this scent, and my girlfriend really likes it as well. It is soft and subtle, and maybe someday I'll save up my birchbox points and splurge.5
Loved the smell of this cologne. Great smell for any occasion.5
Overall I really liked this cologne. I got a lot of compliments from people I went out with last weekend about it. The only problem I see with it is that its a little pricey.5
This is one of the best fragrances I've ever worn. The problem is it's extremely pricey. If it's ever on sale I will for sure buy5
I was very pleased with the scent of this cologne and the smell lasted and did not fade after an hour like others I've tried have. I will say though it smells extremely similar to Viktor and Rolf's Spice Bomb. Being that this cologne is $125 and the Spice Bomb is $75 I will go with the Spice Bomb 10 times out of 10. If the price point on this was a little lower I would be inclined to go with it.4
This scent reminds me of a dark wood-grain whiskey bar I go to occasionally. It's an odd thing; the scent reminds me of good times and casual pomposity, but I can't wear it on myself. It is extremely acrid after just one spray, so much so that I had to re-shower after my first test spray. Perhaps it will grow on me, but right now I can't imagine wearing it all night.2
I love this fragance, the smell is soft but masculine, very citric. I plan on buying the full size without a second thought.5
