A shower isn't the only solution for flat or greasy hair. Hanz de Fuko's medium-hold product is one part styling wax, one part dry shampoo, using diatomaceous earth (a soft, pumice-like rock) to suck up excess oil while adding both volume and texture.
I bought this for my husband who has fine/thin dirty blonde hair. He looks for a messy, non-greasy formula in his hair products. I thought this would be great for him considering it claims to have a matte finish, however it did the opposite for him. It provided zero volume and made his hair look greasy upon application. I decided to keep it for myself in order to tame flyaways, even though a rarely use it. Hopefully it works better for someone else with thicker hair.3
A lot of people seem to like quicksand but definitely not for me at all. Did not like the sandy/gritty texture and it dried my hair out horribly. Had to return it.2
can't go wrong with this stuff. dry shampoo is a bonus. would recommend to anyone looking for a quick and easy hair product5
I bought this as a stocking stuffer for Christmas for my husband. He loves it! This stuff works awesome! Very easy to use.5
I've used a variety of products for a long time and nothing ever got me the look that i was after. the volume and hold with a natural looking finish. this does it! a little goes a long way with it as well.
Agree with some of the other reviews that it does make your hair feel gritty and is hard to wash out but its worth it.
I use Quicksand sometimes in combo with other Hanz de Fuko products, but not too often given the issues below. I'll use it to prime my hair as it sucks up excess moisture and will add volume. Then I go through with either the hybridized wax or modified pomade to add definition and style to my hair.
Agree with other reviewers that it does make your hair feel "gritty" though. It also leaves this chemical scent that is pretty noticeable, especially when I'm in an enclosed space like my car.
I dont like the feel of this product. I used sponge wax before and thought this product would give me the same body in my hair with a little wave.
It feels like glue is in your hair and it takes a good shampoo to get it all out.
It HOLDS your hair but a little stiff for me.
IT MAKES YOUR HAIR FEEL DIRTY AND STICKY, NOT LIKE A GEL OR CLAY, ETC, BUT IT WAS A GROSS FEELING.
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND I AM NOT BIG ON PUTTING PRODUCTS IN MY HAIR, WHICH IS DOWN TO MY SHOULDERS NOW.
I DO HAVE MY PRODUCTS I LOVE FOR HAIR, RUSK FOR INSTANCE HAS A GREAT LINE THAT DOES NOT LEAVE YOUR HEAD FEELING DIRTY AND STICKY
THE ONE THING I LIKED ABOUT IT WAS THE SMELL, I WILL TRY IT A FEW MORE TIMES AND UPDATE MY REVIEW IF I FIND I OVER REACTED TO THE TEXTURE, BUT FROM A GUY WHO HAS HAD LONG HAIR AND TAKES CARE OF IT BIG TIME, NOT TO MENTION A WIFE WHO IS A HAIR STYLIST FOR 20 YEARS I KNOW MY STUFF
MAYBE FOR A YOUNGER DEMOGRAPHIC, I AM 39, SO I AM SET IN MY WAYS ABOUT WHAT I LIKE MY HAIR TO FEEL LIKE.
I've struggled to find the one product that worked with my hair type, and this is the best for my longer, fine hair. Leaves my hair looking full with a lot of texture. Keep the travel size in my briefcase for touch ups on windy days or rockin a hat.5
I have a disconnected undercut; the top length at its longest is about 7in. The morning after a showerless night, sometimes I use Quicksand by Hanz de Fuko - it acts like a dry shampoo. I'd say... objectively, it feels gritty. My hair feels dry; it feels like SAND. It also serves to texturize my hair.
I'm the type that likes to run my fingers through my hair, so sometimes its discomforting to find it feeling like there is dirt. However, I can safely say that I enjoy this product and use it on a regular basis - it keeps my hair up, and keeps it dry.
