A shower isn't the only solution for flat or greasy hair. Hanz de Fuko's medium-hold product is one part styling wax, one part dry shampoo, using diatomaceous earth (a soft, pumice-like rock) to suck up excess oil while adding both volume and texture.
Impressive hold, one of the best I've tried. Smell is rather pungent. But the worst part is the texture: it feels quite literally like sand, and not the nice sand that you can dig your toes in, but more like the gritty sand texture that feels terrible. I've had 2 girls comment on how awful the texture is, and I agree.2
Hands-down the best hair product I've ever used. I have thick hair, and I love it because it controls unruly strands without stiffness or waxy residue. My friends with thin hair love it because it adds volume.5
solid feel without the crunch. best when hair is shorter. longer hair gets a bit unruly because this stuff is strong.4
This is my favorite styling product and I will definitely repurchase it. The smell is kind of neutral, it makes my hair appear thicker, and I look like im not wearing any product in my hair, yet I'm able to style my hair any way I want to.5
This was a product that I had looked forward to using. Being that my hair is wavy, I thought that by using this styling product I would avoid the effects of the Florida humidity. Instead, I got the completely opposite effect of having wiry and stiff hair.1
I love this product, it does a great job of keeping my hair in place while still giving it the freedom to move. I also really enjoy the fact that there is no "sheen" that comes from it as well.
Having tried two other Hanz de Fuko products through my Birchbox subscription, I can honestly say that Quicksand was my favorite for my particular hair style.
This product is good if you are going for an extreme matte look. This product is real simple to apply into the hair but leaves the hair dry. It's also difficult to wash out.3
I love Hanz De Fuko, but this stuff tends to dry out my hair. The hold is higher than I expected, and the texture is really hard to get use to. But as something quick on showerless mornings it does the job flawlessly.3
I was not a fan of this product. I could not get over the feeling it gave me when applying. It felt like I was literally rubbing sand into my hair. I was unable to use this product to style my hair after applying and was forced to wash my hair. Maybe my hair is not oily enough to appreciate the possibility of this product.1
I typically use high hold gels and glues that left my hair shiny and wet looking, as I have had fairly short hair. But I recently grew my hair out to medium length and was looking for a product that had less hold and shine. This does have a gritty feeling, which I was sort of expecting since it has dirt in it, but I got used to it and kind of like it now. It does have a unique odor, but a female friend of mine noticed it the other day and said she thought it smelled great! I find it has medium hold for my frizzy hair, but does not straighten waviness very well. Still, it gives a unique modern look and I would recommend if you're seeking a change of pace from typical hair products.4
