A shower isn't the only solution for flat or greasy hair. Hanz de Fuko's medium-hold product is one part styling wax, one part dry shampoo, using diatomaceous earth (a soft, pumice-like rock) to suck up excess oil while adding both volume and texture.
For having thin-receding hair, this wax has a strong natural hold. small amount needed to be applied and had a clean and clear finish.4
Holds well, smells great. Also nice to have the option for matte or glossy finish by putting on with wet or dry hair. Easy to apply and looks great!4
Love this new product and it's become part of my daily routine. Cocktail with Sponge Wax each morning for my short-medium length hair. Perfect first layer to give texture to my fine hair. Could use alone if just going for beach hair, but if need something more professional, add another product and it doesn't get too heavy at all. HDF products are fantastic and even though look small, jars last for months!4
I've figured out that the best time my hair looks is about one day after I've washed it. If I go for any longer than a day without washing, you can definitely start to notice my body's natural oils seeping into my hair. This product definitely works great to combat that greasy look. Although I do have to agree with those that are slightly put off by the smell and texture.4
This product gives you a strong hold but it leaves my hair hard to run my fingers through. It is a very coarse product and leaves your hair smelling strange. If you are looking for a product with a tremendous hold this might work for you.3
This works great with my shorter hair. While it doesn't give me a finished look, it definitely provides a casual one. It also keeps my hair from becoming greasy all day!
I would suggest using this as a base, and then finishing with a wax.
I enjoy this product occasionally- but I found it dried my hair out too much to use daily. It works very well, but just be aware that it does have a drying quality to it.4
I really like the Claymation product so I was a bit disappointed with the Quicksand. It left my hair matted and stiff and I do not like the smell.2
The smell! Oh god, the smell.... It holds great, no excess gunk, awesome matte look, but it smells like melted crayons and baby powder. It's almost a total deal breaker, definitely not an everyday product, but it works so well you can almost, ~almost~ overlook the aroma. It lingers, like a Pig-Penesque cloud that just won't go away!3
Perhaps the best product I've gotten from Birchbox. Does an amazing job at curing motorcycle helmet head. Always have a little canister of it in my tankbag now.5
