Each one of these meltable chocolate morsels is the culinary version of a happy pill. Sourced directly from farmers in Ecuador, the cocoa beans in this sweet treat are of the purest stripe. Melt one down for a brew so rich and delicious, it will haunt your dreams (in the most delectable way possible).
I made the mistake of making all of the two serving sample pouch for myself. It really is super rich and tastes like liquified dark chocolate. There is a hint of that fruity taste you get from good quality dark chocolate.
Just so you guys know a serving is 4 tbs of milk to 19g of the chocolate. That is pretty much enough for one serving because of how rich it is. The full size would make about 9 of these servings.
For those getting chunks, heat it along with the milk on a stove and use a whisk to constantly stir it while it heats up. Eventually there will be no lumps.
I got this, only to see that it expires in less than two months.
This chocolate tastes bitter and waxy. Not impressed.
I ordered this because I miss a particular thick chocolate drink from a coffee shop that was discontinued years ago, and I am constantly trying to find something similar to it :) This isn't quite that, but it's pretty good! I am not sure I'm getting the ratio of milk to chocolate right (I don't have a fluid ounce measuring spoon nor do I have a kitchen scale to get exactly 19 ounces of chocolate), but I'm doing about 4:1 tbsp milk:chocolate. I'll keep playing with the recipe. In any case, it definitely beats out packaged powder hot chocolate mix!4
You have to like dark chocolate to enjoy this drink. It is very rich and pretty strong and perfect for my dark chocolate love.5
This is not a kids drink, it is for enjoying in a expresso size. Very rich, the aroma was terrific, once sachet serves two and you don't use much milk, but I added 2 tablespoons more as it was so rich, and actually spilt it between three in small mugs, we enjoyed it around a log fire and it was the perfect drink :)5
First: this is not for a mug of hot chocolate!! As it states in the info section, this is for a small treat for chocolate lovers.
To turn it into sweeter hot chocolate, follow these instructions:
4 tablespoons chocolate
3/4 tablespoons sugar (I recommend brown sugar)
1 1/4 cup milk (I recommend whole milk)
Warm on the stovetop ON LOW, be sure to not allow it to burn or boil. To add a touch of froth, whisk to your hearts content. Enjoy with your favorite toppings or alone.
I love this brand and would recommend it to anyone who wants some delicious chocolate.
I received this in the Home Sweet Homespun box and like others I was saving it as a treat for a cold night at home. The instructions were ridiculous and no matter how many times I read them they did not make sense. Not sure who makes a cup of hot chocolate out of 4 tbsp of milk. The bag was resealable leading me to believe it was intended for multiple uses but it took the entire bag to make one medium sized mug of hot chocolate. The chocolate didn't mix well and I wondered what on earth was wrong with it. I tasted a piece on its own out of curiosity and it was so bitter and almost salty. Normally I like salty and sweet but this was just bizarre. I had to add some white chocolate chips to the mug just to tolerate the taste. Very disappointing!1
Delicious and thick. Definitely for the chocolate lover. A little difficult to discern how to make, but after some trial and error, enjoyable.3
I add this every morning to my latte. A few chips are the perfect touch of cocoa .5
Tried a sample that came in a limited edition box I purchased. Very intense chocolate taste which I didn't mind bcuz I enjoy a not overly sweet dark chocolate flavor. Warms you up on a cold winter's day.4
