It took us a while to hop on the hair oil bandwagon, and man oh man were we missing out. This lightweight elixir is fortified with a unique combo of four essential oils (camellia, argan, maize, and pracaxi) to leave strands super shiny and manageable—whether your hair is curly, straight, or in between. The pump dispenser allows for mess-proof applications, and we love how the weightless formula isn't sticky. Plus, we can use it as a pre-shampoo treatment or leave-in conditioner. What more can a girl ask for?
I've been trying to work on how much of this to use and I can't figure out a way to use it that doesn't weigh down my hair. I like Kerastase products but this one is tricky.2
I have slightly coarse, slightly wavy hair that needs an oil or silicone based product applied before blow-drying it straight. (Otherwise, my hair has lots of fly-aways and tends to look slightly frizzy). I bought this product hoping it would give my hair a nice gloss, but instead, it left it rather limp. I tried using it several times, using a slightly different amount each time, but did not see a real difference. If you are looking for a product that is nourishing AND adds bounce, I would recommend the Agave Healing Oil Treatment (also sold on the Birchbox site!). I'd like to wrap it up by saying this product *may* work better on a different type of hair - I've seen reviews online with pics of people with stunning results - but for me, I found the Agave product more effective.2
The description is correct in stating that this product is " lightweight". I found it too lightweight in the fact that it did not do what I expected an oil to do, smooth split ends and add shine. I am a faithful Moroccan oil user , which although heavier, always smooths my hair, conditions it and smells delicious! This product fell short in all those categories, and has barely any scent. Possibly good for those with fine hair but most people with fine hair stay away from oils. Maybe if the product was cheaper I would have been more satisfied.2
This product works ok for smoothing out frizz, but I think Moroccan oil works much better - not planning to purchase this one...2
I tried the product included in the BB. I have long curly hair, so the sample was enough for one use, but honestly I think that I would need more than was included to get the full effect. It was okay. I didn't see any major improvement after using it. I have dry curly hair, and this just didn't do the trick for me.2
I usually use Moroccan Oil for my extra dry wavy hair and honestly, this didn't even come close. My hair was still extra frizzy even after adding twice the recommended amount. I do, however, live in CO and we have little to no moisture in the air which could have contributed.
But honestly, that wasn't the deal breaker. It smelled awful and chemically, even my boyfriend noticed and asked if I had burned my hair with a flatiron. I tried this, I really did, and I really wanted to like it, but it just didn't work.
I was really excited to try the Kerastase line and I really WANTED to like it...However, I just was not impressed. I've used Biosilk and Alterna Bamboo Oil on a regular basis, and I can honestly say, I will stick to my Biosilk.2
It is not any better or worse than other products I own.2
If you like products that contain the hair smoothing silicones, you'll definitely like this too. I just wasn't impressed with it in confront with the other ones I've tried. Keep in mind I also have fine, longer straight hair and don't like for it to be super straight and flat.2
I found that the product irritated my scalp. I would choose an Argan Oil product over this because it has similar effects. The product smelt nice though. Would consider using a Kerastase product that was more tailored to my sensitive skin.2
