Sticky lip gloss is high up on our list of beauty pet peeves, right next to cakey concealer and smudgy mascara. One gust of wind, and your hair is stuck all over your lips. No thanks, we’ll pass. We’ve become pretty picky about lip products, and these superlight, refreshing glosses make the cut. Created by the color pros at POP Beauty, they add a wash of sheer color and a high dose of shine, without that goopy, sticky feeling we all know too well.
I must admit that this is the first lip gloss I have used since the age of about 13. I've always preferred lipstick or nothing at all. At first look at the Flowering Fuschia color, I was disappointed that this was one of my box items because I figured I'd never use it. But I was incredibly pleasantly surprised! It goes on nicely, has the perfect amount of color without being too bright, stays on for a long time, and doesn't feel as sticky as some other glosses do. I also like that it doesn't have a fruity scent or taste-- just a nice, simple gloss.
I feel like this product is geared towards teenagers. I had a barbie doll pink color and the stuff was so glossy and SUPER sticky. I just need an effective lip color with moisturizer, not something that Katy Perry would endorse. But, hey, if you're into that sort of thing, then this is perfect for you! :)1
The sample I received was flowering fuchsia. It appeared a bit bright in the tube, but actually went on quite lightly, which was great. Unfortunately, I found this product to be extremely sticky despite the product description provided by Birchbox.2
Like the color and the packaging. But the applicator to brush on the lipgloss is a plastic stick. Makes it feel cheap and not as smooth as with a normal applicator.3
If you like thick glossy lip colors, this is perfect. The spatula is a little awkward (euro/asian product design?) but seems easy to get used to. I really like floating rose, it is a transparent blushy red. You definitely need to reapply/smooth out after drinking or eating. The wax and other ingredients change consistency with temperature and tend to ball up but the color is gorgeous and it seems like it hydrates your lips in the long run.4
This gloss is absolutely beautiful. It's a sheer medium rosy pink with tiny shimmers throughout. POP Beauty has packaging that I associate with being a bit cheap-looking in its design, but I really like the applicator of this gloss. It's a clear flexible wand that makes it a breeze to spread the product evenly across my lips. The gloss itself has a slightly tacky feel that is a bit sticky but makes it quite long-wearing. This has a light sweet mint scent and feels slightly cooling upon application. I really adore how juicy and youthful this makes my lips look. Thank you Birchbox!4
I didn't find anything remarkable about this stuff. My hair still sticks to my lips when it's windy and I'm wearing this stuff. The color is cute, but I wasn't blown away.3
I was a little worried when my box arrived that this shade would be too bright, I was wrong! When I read it was a plumper I was worried it would tingle, I was wrong! This product was awesome, not sticky! Very fun and it is a must have for a night out on the town!5
It's funny that the blurb says this product isn't sticky, because this has to be one of the stickiest glosses I have ever used. It REALLY stays on the lips for a long time too, even after trying to wash it off, it was not budging. I sampled "Floating Rose" and the color is a lot brighter than the website would lead you to believe. I would probably buy this in another color.4
I wasn't really a big fan of the color that birch box sent me to sample, but it has a real shine to it. The gloss wasn't sticky, went on smooth and stayed. Well, at least, it stayed until I started eating! lol but overall, good new product.4
