Sticky lip gloss is high up on our list of beauty pet peeves, right next to cakey concealer and smudgy mascara. One gust of wind, and your hair is stuck all over your lips. No thanks, we’ll pass. We’ve become pretty picky about lip products, and these superlight, refreshing glosses make the cut. Created by the color pros at POP Beauty, they add a wash of sheer color and a high dose of shine, without that goopy, sticky feeling we all know too well.
I'm not a huge fan of lip products, I tend to go with a tinted chapstick and that's about it. I was skeptical of this product because in the tube "floating rose" is bright red, and extremely intimidating. The consistency of the product was a little goopy, but after applying it, it was a nice sheer pink, and went very well with my light skin tone. It's an understated but strong color, and I love it. It's a little sticky and I can still feel it on my lips, which makes me a little hesitant, but it's definitely a product I'm going to continue using.4
This gloss is amazing! I love how it has the unique spatula applicator, instead of a squeeze top or brush. It's also super glossy, without being super sticky, which is a major plus! It also feels minty, which is nice.4
I thought this was a fantastic colored lip gloss. It has just enough color without making your lips look too pink. It smells fantastic and it is so easy to put on with the application stick!5
Great formula, but I was not to crazy about the color I received.3
I never heard or used any POP product before getting the floating rose aqua lacquer in my box. It adds some plump to my lips without a harsh tingle. The color is not as bright as I expected, more on he sheer side which I really like. The applicator is a lot of fun too!5
Pop beauty has attempted to reinvent the wheel with the applicator in this lipgloss - it's a thin, floppy plastic paddle. For some super-sticky glosses this type of applicator might be useful, but not here: this lip lacquer is runny (actually kind of stringy) and would play well with a sponge-tip applicator or a simple squeeze-tip.
The gloss itself is gorgeous. I received Floating Rose, which is a sheer blush of reddish magenta. The product is shimmery and smells slightly like a candy cane. I didn't notice any tingling or plumping effects, but the gloss looks pretty on and spreads the way you would expect. There are really no surprises about the way it looks and wears - it's a solid staple lipgloss.
I must admit that this is the first lip gloss I have used since the age of about 13. I've always preferred lipstick or nothing at all. At first look at the Flowering Fuschia color, I was disappointed that this was one of my box items because I figured I'd never use it. But I was incredibly pleasantly surprised! It goes on nicely, has the perfect amount of color without being too bright, stays on for a long time, and doesn't feel as sticky as some other glosses do. I also like that it doesn't have a fruity scent or taste-- just a nice, simple gloss.
I feel like this product is geared towards teenagers. I had a barbie doll pink color and the stuff was so glossy and SUPER sticky. I just need an effective lip color with moisturizer, not something that Katy Perry would endorse. But, hey, if you're into that sort of thing, then this is perfect for you! :)1
The sample I received was flowering fuchsia. It appeared a bit bright in the tube, but actually went on quite lightly, which was great. Unfortunately, I found this product to be extremely sticky despite the product description provided by Birchbox.2
Like the color and the packaging. But the applicator to brush on the lipgloss is a plastic stick. Makes it feel cheap and not as smooth as with a normal applicator.3
