Sticky lip gloss is high up on our list of beauty pet peeves, right next to cakey concealer and smudgy mascara. One gust of wind, and your hair is stuck all over your lips. No thanks, we’ll pass. We’ve become pretty picky about lip products, and these superlight, refreshing glosses make the cut. Created by the color pros at POP Beauty, they add a wash of sheer color and a high dose of shine, without that goopy, sticky feeling we all know too well.
The color I received was flowering fuchsia which is quite bright, but when I put it on it turned out to be a really beautiful color. It almost just enhanced the color of my lips and made them a little pinker. I would definitely wear this color in spring and summer.
As for the applicator it is kind of neat that it is plastic so it is easier to clean off and it goes on very well. However I did find it a little sticky so I would wear this with me hair down or strand would stick to it. Also it did stay on as long as I would have liked. I worked for about 1.5-2 hrs and then I needed to reapply.
The best thing though is the mint. It tastes yummy, plumps my lips, gives them a bit of a tingle. I loved that part!
It's the first product in my birchbox i don't like at all. It is so sticky and heavy and the feeling is there even after you try to take it off (and that's impossible).
The color i get is nice. But there's no way i'm using it and it's so bad i can't even give it to my friends.
On a positive note, I think I can put this lip gloss to use (unlike some of the samples I've gotten that I've had to throw out or never use), but it's not something I would buy myself. The color and consistency are ok, and the taste/lip feel isn't bad, kind of minty. But the application is horrible. I don't know if it's because it is a sample, but applying a lipgloss with a thin plastic stick is ridiculous. I'm not on survivor. So all in all I give this product an "eh" not horrible but not worth a purchase in my opinion.3
POP Beauty Aqua Lacquer is a nice product but not my color and I am not sure if I want try another one.4
I'm loving the shine of this gloss. For once Birchbox sent me a normal color too! Yea!
They only thing I'm not sure about it the staying power.
One other comment is that the packaging looks kind of cheap, like something you would pay $5 for a Walgreens. However I am 34 years old and they may be trying to reach a younger demographic. Just my 2 cents.
Love it tho...thanks!
I love this product! I think it goes on well and stays all day.5
Loved the gloss and the color however I am not a fan of the applicator.4
The color is great, the gloss is very glossy, the application is very easy, and the applicator itself is very nice. But this is a sticky, sticky gloss. Like, if the wind blows my hair across my face then my hair gets stuck in the gloss and stays there. Also, it doesn't smell or taste that great. Just like a sticky glob of chemicals. Too many cons for the pros: I'll pass.2
This product was so sticky and gross it reminded me of those lipsmacker glosses circa 2003. The color was good, and the scent was nice, but I could not get over the gross texture. Then again, I've never been crazy into lipgloss.2
This is a great product for tweens or teens. I can't ever use the colors sent to my in BB. They are always some BRIGHT, no one ever wears color - that I end up throwing away. My daughters will use this for halloween or something. But as a gloss, it would be great if it was a color I'd actually wear.3
