More often than not, things are not exactly what they seem—like this wood veneer cube. At first glance, it looks like, well, a basic wood veneer cube. But clap your hands (or tap on the cube) and it transforms into a clock. And just a few seconds later—like magic—it’s back to being an ordinary-looking box.
don't buy this here- it is approximately 12 bucks on amazon with free 2 day prime shipping. I love birchbox but sometimes their prices are a bit higher than they should be.5
This clock is simple, light, and it has a cool gimmick. Clap and it displays the time. It only has one alarm feature but that's fine. I can live with it. There are some things I cannot live with. The primary one is the battery use. You would think a clock that you have to clap for it to display would be great at conserving battery life, but it terrible. I have tried long lasting batteries, regular batteries and the most I get out of this clock is 3 months. That's 8 triple batteries a year! More than my TV remote (which I use regularly). There should have been at least an option to use an AC adapter for this clock, but there is not. This clock is a huge disappointment.2
Maybe it's just my bad luck, but watching this get unwrapped only to see all of the wood veneer peeling back from the clock was still a shock. More shocking was the price difference I could have found if I'd just looked. I hope this first arrival from birchbox isn't an indication of what is to come.1
I bought this for my boyfriend for valentines day, a very cool concept and sleek design. I love the cordless aspect as well. Really makes a great gift for someone4
Didn't buy this on BB, but here's my review: I loved this little clock for 2 weeks. Then it ceased to work. I wish I had listened to the other reviews about the short battery life. Replacing 4 AAA batteries every few weeks is impractical.1
I expected this clock to be at least triple the size that it actually is. It's also clearly made out of plastic, though the display pictures make it look much more like wood. I'm a little scared my husband won't enjoy this part of his Christmas present because it is so dinky...3
This thing is so handy to have next to the bed. It doesn't stay on so it doesn't shine light into your face and all it takes is a tap on the desk that its on or on the clock itself for the time to display. I'd highly recommend it!5
As I have a multitude of mobile devices I had used a wood charging station on my nightstand. However, newer models didn't fit, so I decided on replacing the large charging mount with a small, space conscious alarm clock. I've seen these around in various hotels and friends' homes and loved the simplicity of it. The time displays when it detects noise or motion, then fades out. I normally use my mobile for my alarm (I travel often), but at home I found this to be quicker and easier.4
I got the clock off amazon for a small gift for a friend, looks and works great as far as i know, still uses it all the time4
I was looking to find a fun quirky gift and it seems as though the battery died very quickly. you also had to really clap near it, maybe 1-2 feet. So, it has joined the pile of unused items in our house. Disappointed as I had hoped it would have been a sleek addition to my son's new teenage room.2
