You’ve been dedicatedly growing out your hair ever since you gave into your urge to go for the Michelle Williams-inspired chop. Now that your locks are long once again, make sure you show them a little TLC (that’s tender long-hair care). This kit includes a team of Davines Melu Shampoo, Davines Melu Conditioner, and Davines Oi/Oil Absolute Beautifying Potion that work together to soften, condition, and strengthen to help prevent breakage of your Rapunzel-rivaling strands. They also work to speed up blow drying time (less heat, less of a chance to do damage).
I adore all the Davines products I’ve tried, so when I saw this travel size kit, which specifically addresses long and damaged hair, I was super excited. What a disappointment! I don’t even know how to describe how terrible it was. Both the shampoo and the conditioner smell horrible… like Pine-sol and vinegar and something else really terrible. The shampoo wasn’t intense enough to wash the styling product out of my hair. The conditioner didn’t smooth my hair at all. When my hair dried, it was frizzy and felt like straw. Ew. I’m so unhappy. Maybe it’s my hair type (I have fine, curly hair) but although I love many of the other products from this line, this purchase was a complete waste of money. I will be returning it immediately.1
Purchased this in January in full size for $24, it is now only a full size sample. Do not waste your money on purchasing a $24 sample when the full size is that price and when birchbox used to offer both shampoo and conditioner for $24.
I have long hair that's prone to breakage and is very oily. The product is beyond fantastic for these issues. I highly reccomend it otherwise.
I purchased this shampoo and conditioner from a local salon, and was terribly disappointed. I wanted to love this product because it was refillable and more eco-friendly. I kept thinking that the next time I used it, I would have better results, but no such luck.
First, I hated that the products were in these pots, making it impossible to use without taking off the lid, getting water inside, and then dipping my hand into it to retrieve the product. There is a reason why most shampoos and conditioners come in squeeze bottles - it's simply more convenient. I have no idea why these are packaged this way.
The products did nothing to manage my wavy, somewhat frizzy hair, or to hydrate it. I hated that they didn't lather, and the fragrance and texture didn't impress me either. Basically, there was nothing about this product that I liked. I ended up giving away 2/3 of both "buckets" of shampoo and conditioner because I wanted to switch to a different brand and couldn't return these. (It's worth noting that *every* product I've used since has done far better things for my hair - whether from a drugstore or high-end beauty retailer!)
I cannot recommend this product at all.
I ordered the Davines Melu Kit on a whim and I am so glad I did! I have thick wavy/curly hair that tends to get very tangled and frizzy no matter what I do, but from the first time I used the Melu shampoo and conditioner it has been so soft and easy to comb, plus frizz is basically nonexistent even in the southern humidity where I live. The oil works well too, but the shampoo and conditioner are really where the magic is.1
I don't understand the hype. I purchased the travel size to try it out. I have long, naturally wavy, color- treated hair. All this stuff did was weigh down my hair and make it smell like an old lady. And it's just too expensive.2
I received the Davines Love samples in my box a couple of months back and loved them. I decided to purchase this kit instead of the Love ones because it seemed more appropriate for my hair type (long, straight and fine). The scent of the Melu kit is not good at all. The size of the shampoo is not nearly enough to last as long as the conditioner even though I have been using more conditioner than usual. I have more than half of the conditioner left and just ran out of the shampoo. The conditioner does make my hair nice and soft but that's about all I liked about this. My hair is too naturally oily to use the oil included.2
love Davine products but this stuff smells super weird. It gives a really deep clean that lasts for days but i just can't get over the smell.2
The oil is great for protecting hair before heat styling, but the shampoo and conditioner left my hair feeling brittle and straw-like. I think it may be the sulfites in them...3
I received the Love samples in my Birchbox and they are by far my favorite hair care products. I decided to give the Melu products a shot as they seemed more appropriate for my hair type. The scent is a little too earthy for me and I don't feel as though they are as effective as the Love line. I will definitely be purchasing the Love line again.3
I used this one time and my hair dried out. I thought the shampoo smelled "ok" but the conditioner didn't smell good at all. I didn't like this product.3
