When people compliment us on this vintage-y bangle bracelet, we love being able to say “Thanks, I made it myself.” Take a high-quality brass bangle and a chain of glittery rhinestones, and weave them together with a bright satin ribbon to add some major style to your wrist. The bracelet lends a bright shot of color (your choice: azalea or mint) to any outfit, from jeans and a blazer to a fitted black dress. Exclusive to Birchbox!
Very easy technique so even a beginner can have success with this one and the final product is a winner! My only problem is the ribbon/seam binding for wrapping was way too short...to the point I couldn't finish my project. Luckily I have plenty of Hug Snug seam binding so I cut a piece about a yard long (not worried about wasting because it is very inexpensive) and it worked perfectly. The color I have is close to the azalea color in the kit. The bangle is too small for my hands but I will give it to my daughter-in-law. I would love to know where I can get more of the bangles because I have the rhinestone chain and seam binding.4
These bracelets are very small. I have a fairly slender wrist & hand, as well as my mother who I bought another one for. Her hands & wrists are very petite. Neither of us could get these over our hands. When I took them into a local jewelry store, they were the same size as their little girl bracelets. Sure enough, when I arrived back from being told there would be no way to extend them without it costing more than these are worth, I compared them to a bracelet my little niece wears, and it is the same size. When I compared it to bracelets I buy in department & jewelry stores, they were considerably smaller. Unless your hand and wrist are the size of a child's, don't bother wasting your money. I hope Birchbox will refund my $36.1
So I got really excited when I added this to my cart. I really love creating my own accessories but sometimes it can be tiring to come up with your own ideas. I love that this came with everything you needed to make it but you got to put it all together. It gives you the satisfaction of creating something without having all the fuss of buying all the pieces and thinking of what to make! My only complaints are that my ribbon was very short, to the point where my bow was really tiny. I was confused because on the website for For the Makers it says to leave a good amount before beginning to wrap the ribbon so that you have a nice size bow and there was no way I could leave more than 2 inches. Maybe mine just got messed up. And the ribbon frays very easily.4
This project could not be easier. Just wrap the ribbon around the jewels to the band and tie with a bow. So cute and so simple. My only complaint is the ribbon will fray. A bit of clear nail Polish was the trick. I loved this partnership between For the Makers and Birchbox.5
This bracelet is so adorable and stylish! It also could go with any outfit! It's classy yet causal.5
Not homemade looking at all, I was a bit skeptical about that, but it's just gorgeous! My five year old was more than eager to help as soon as we opened the box!5
I love the way this bangle looks, but it is too small to get over my hand! I have tiny hands, too, so I was surprised that it wouldn't fit. I wish I had a niece to give it to, but as it is, it just sits in my jewelry box :-(2
this turned out cute but instead of a bow I had to tie a knot because there wasn't enough ribbon even though I followed the directions. and the end of the ribbon was frayed so like one reviewer did I put clear nail polish on the end. I like it but for the price I wish there would have been enough ribbon.4
I'm so glad I added this bracelet kit to my cart on impulse. It was really quick and easy to make. Did I mention that it looks a million dollars? Lovely.5
This is a beautiful piece of jewelry. I always get a lot of compliments on it. Was gift from family member and it is just lovely.5
