Now and then, we come across a product that’s so darn cute, it makes us want to squeee (but since we’re adults, we restrain ourselves). LAQA & Co.’s lip pencils are one such discovery. They deliver concentrated, high-sheen pigment and come in a wealth of bold shades. Get five of their travel-friendly Lil’ Lip Pencils in this kit. Now that’s the kind of coloring box we can get behind.
Since I really like the LAQA & Co. Sheer Lip Lube Pencil, I decided to get this set to try out the colors. It's horrible in comparison. It doesn't stay and comes off on everything. Terrible old lipstick smell instead of fresh mint like the sheer lip lube pencil. It does have brilliant color but looks a bit like heavy clown makeup once on since the colors are so heavy.1
I love the idea of these darling little lip crayons. The colors are fun, they feel fabulous going on, but sadly the color fades and bleeds after just a short time. A pass for me.1
These lip colors are wonderfully vibrant and pigmented; it is such a shame they come in such terrible packaging. When I opened the box only 2 of the 5 tubes had color names listed on them so I had to guess the rest from the colors listed on the box and swatch pictures. Even worse the twist up function is terrible. It is so loose that 2 have been ruined just from being in my makeup bag in my purse. They seem to shake loose and get smashed into the cap. I will probably try to depot them into something else but it seems a waste as they are supposed to be in an easy to use chubby pencil format. I did not have any of these issues with the sample color I received in my box a few months ago, even after it had a trip thru the washing machine. Very disappointed in this purchase and would not recommend.2
I got one of these as a gift with purchase or something a while back. It arrived dirty looking, and the color and texture are not at all for me. It's way too pink and feels cheap. I also hate the packaging.2
Maybe it's my color skin, but these colors did not work at all on me. They were either too matte and bright or looked like chalk on my lips.2
I get so many compliments on these colors! Just beware: they can get messy in your makeup bag. A few of the lighter colors I don't use, preferring the deeper hues. But this pack is fun and lets you experiment! The color lasts and is very bold. I wear them regularly!3
i got a sample of a very deep red in box one month. opted to purchase this set because my daughter dances and needs various reds and pinks that dont necessarily take a lot of work to use. i like the simple design, its like a non adjustable crayon, but i dont like how you have to use so many coats to get the color you need. im sure with a liner these would be great. there is a little bit of a stain when using these, so that can be a pro or a con. these are definitely color not just gloss. more like glossy lightweight color, and they are the perfect size to keep in purse, the caps do fall off though! make sure you have a nice compartment for these3
I loved the lipstick I got in my Birchbox one month and I had to have more! It felt so great going on! But then when I got this pack I was not quite as satisfied. These lipsticks don't go on as smoothly as the one I received in my Birchbox, and while the colors are great, none of them look quite right ton me. They also dry out my lips. A bit disappointed, but still wearing them for quick trips to the store, etc. Wish they were the great party lipsticks I was expecting them to be!3
I love these little pencils because I feel like they're the adult version of crayons. However, of the colors, 2 are totally terrible. There's a neon pink and a soft pink that look awful on me. Since they aren't sheer pencils, it's hard to just swipe a little on. It's pretty much all or nothing. I like the red, shimmery pink, and dark pink, so I think it's worth keeping.3
I got a sample of the lip lube in the June 2014 box and loved it, so I took the plunge and purchased this sample of 5 colors. I received them today and tried each of them on. Wolfman, which is the pale pink on my light to medium olive skin tone made me look sickly. Fairyblood, the shimmery pink, broke in half when I applied it and was shimmery and probably would work well if mixed with other colors. Lambchop which is a neon fuchsia made me look like a clown but it was entertaining to think of wearing this shade in public. Pinkman, the hot pink is by far my favorite of the five, its fun and flirty and perfect for a night out with friends or a date just a punch of color if you want to have some color stand out in an overall look. Ring of Fire isn't as bad as I thought, with my skin tone it came off a little more orange than red but after a while it suited the tone (or I got used to it). I give a 5/5 on texture and creaminess, 3/5 on product applicator (since the lip color snapped in half on first swipe), 2/5 on colors that fits a general array of skin tones...thus the overall rating of 3/5 stars.
Perhaps I will grow to like and manipulate the colors over time but if one isn't willing to be that creative go with a color you know suits you and pick that one from the full sized version because the lasting color and high pigment is worth the purchase but only in the right color.
