We’ve never been the type of ladies who can wear lipstick comfortably day in and day out (at least, not without wiping away the periodic smudges on our teeth). That’s why we’re borderline-obsessed with this versatile lip pencil, which combines the high-intensity pigment of a lipstick with the shine of a gloss while curing dryness. The brainchild of celebrity makeup artist Mally Roncal, it gives the subtle illusion of fuller lips. Once it’s on, we can forget that we’re wearing it at all—unless we pass a mirror, of course.
I received the shade Nude and it had a nice full pigment. The texture is creamy but dries off pretty quickly leaving behind color but no moisture. I don't get "gloss" from this as the one I received was very matte in finish. There was no effect that made my lips appear fuller or more plumped.3
This lip crayon is very creamy and pigmented. It's also moisturizing.3
I was disappointed to get the soft nude color. I have dark skin and a lot of pigment in my lips so the color is white on me. I'm not really sure how I ended up with this color based on my profile. That being said...it went on really smooth and made my lips looks full and soft but i can't be a true judge of whether I like it because of the color.3
I really like this color -- very flattering on my rosy pale skin for a nude. I wouldn't say that this would last a full day, but it definitely holds up for a few hours and through a couple of drinks. It also has a silky texture without feeling like a gloss, which is nice since I'm not the biggest gloss fan. I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a great basic lip color to add to their collection, and I'll probably purchase the full size once my sample runs out.4
I was really looking forward to trying this product because I had heard so many great things about Mally. The color I received was soft nude, I would assume it to be safe since its a neutral, but for winter it makes me look like a corpse. The consistency is not creamy or hydrating it looks like I have crayon all over my lips and it tastes like old lipstick. yuck.3
This product is amazing! It stays on for a long time and is hydrating as well which is great for the winter!5
Over all, really a decent product. I disliked my shade, it was a nude tone and is too close to my olive skin tone. It is similar to other high end lip products.3
Soft Nude was a "Your lips but better" perfect shade. I love the way it made my lips feel so hydrated. It lasted for about 4 hours before I felt the need to touch up. Nice dupe for Tarte's Lip Surgence Pencils.4
I loved the brighter colored lip crayons I've sampled in the past through birch box, but was really impressed with Mally's nude tone and especially the ease that it went on. Sometimes with other crayons I have to put chapstick on first to make it glide on smooth and stay put but this stick is really all you need!5
Mally Roncal is one of the first make up artists who inspired me at age 13 to start experimenting with techniques and bold moves. Over 10 years later, I still ADORE her. She is THE make up genius and her lip product is by no means a disappointment- it's creamy, hydrating, and smooth. I do not know how long is stays on, because unfortunately I hated the color "nude" which I recieved in my box this month (it completely clashed with my olive skin tone but would look chic on someone with different coloring, great pigment though!) so I did not test it out on an all-day wear trial.5
