Although we’re committed to wearing sunscreen every day, we don’t love slathering greasy lotions on our face first thing in the morning (or really ever). That’s why we start our day off right with philosophy’s oil-free moisturizer, which weightlessly protects our skin from the sun. Perfect for layering under makeup, it’s also formulated to diffuse oxygen across skin’s surface for a glowing, natural-looking complexion—talk about a breath of fresh air.
I'm gonna lay my cards out for this 3-star review.. I'm on retin-a, my skin is really dry, my skin is really sensitive because of the medication, and I just ate a whole tub of Ben and Jerry's.
I was looking for a moisturizer that had a decent SPF and wasn't too greasy. So I took a deep breath and purchased Philosphy's TAKE A DEEP BREATH SPF 30 MOISTURIZER. *hair flip, smile, camera pans out upright*
The first time I tried this, my whole face turned red like a cherry tomato. I used the Black Jack's Moisture Oil as a serum before this product, which felt calming on my skin and moisturizing. This did not. My skin is probably on the more sensitive side because of the medication, but this really stings now after using it a few days and doesn't moisturize well for my skin. I have just started using it as a top layer SPF over the serum, a separate moisturizer and then this.
Can you name one positive thing about this product?
Who said that? Oh, right, it was a super light SPF moisturizer and I haven't had any noticeable sun damage when I've used this.
This is the most frustrating product I've bought in a long time. The hole in the squeeze tube is way too big for the amount you need. It would be appropriate for body lotion or body sunscreen - not a facial product. As a result, it is incredibly frustrating to get the right amount out of the tube. I've wasted a lot of product. I'd recommend shaking the product down in the tube (away from the lid) every time before applying.
The product itself is less greasy than Cere-ve and hasn't broken my sensitive skin out over the week I've been using it.
I bought this because I was looking for a moisturizer with SPF in it and the one I initially wanted was out of stock. This moisturizer is a bit pricey for what it delivers, which isn't much. I like that it has SPF in it. The moisturizer works, but it's really nothing special. I have used cheaper moisturizers with better results. You don't need lots of product, so there's that. As others have mentioned, the hole in this bottle is too big and will cause too much product to run out. I keep it stored upside down and I keep it upside down when I use it and just lightly squeeze out the amount of moisturizer I want. Overall, too expensive for what it delivers, so I doubt I will repurchase.3
Its a light moisturizer with SPF which i love, but the container dispenses way more than i want to use each time which feels like a waste of a lot of product3
I really like this moisturizer. It feels fresh on my skin and gives my skin a healthy and glowy appearance. I would not repurchase this until it has different packaging though. It's difficult to control how much comes out, so I've wasted a lot of product.3
This is, overall, a nice moisturizer
Pros: SPF 30; Absorbs well; No fragrances/potential irritant; Reasonable price for a high-end product
Cons: VERY runny....be careful as you'll literally get a handful of this stuff (it only takes a dab)
I wish this came in better packaging or something, because the consistency is so liquid. I probably won't buy this again.
I wasn't expecting it to be a light blue color. I would have much preferred it to be plain. The smell is also a bit flowery for me. However, it does absorb well and does a good job with sun protection.3
I love Philosophy. This product is oil-free moisturizer, but the product comes out of the package extremely quick. They need to change that aspect for sure. I love the light scent and how nicely it dries. I have fair skin and need to keep SPF on at all time.4
This is a really nice daily moisturizer. It is good for oily skin and has the bonus of spf 30 to protect during day time. I like this face lotion, and it doesn't break me out like most do. The only thing I have an issue with is it is a little pricey for not have many added benefits. Normally if I spend more money on a lotion, it is because it has a "treatment" factor to it.4
Ugh...so I want to give this product five stars, but I can't. It absorbs well, no strong smell, and it's a great value considering what you get for the cost. THAT SAID...the bottle it comes in is terrible. I read the other reivews before buying and thought, "How bad could this bottle be?" Well...it's bad. As others have noted, it's difficult to only dispense what you need. The bottle is better suited for heavy-use lotion or sunscreen, not a daily facial moisturizer (which is what this is marketed to be). Please, philosophy! Please put this in a tube with a smaller mouth or a jar...anything but this!4
