Not all shea butters are created equal. The eco-conscious folks behind Shea Terra Organics sourced this unrefined version from the Otuwe Shea Butter Cooperative in Uganda, which is famous for abundant rainfall that helps shea trees flourish. Local women harvest the nuts by hand before sending them to a mill, where they’re distilled for the rich moisturizer that’s great for face, body, cuticles, and hair alike. Compared to its more common West African counterpart, this East African shea butter is creamier and has a less noticeable scent, making it ideal for sensitive skin.
First off I love the size of this sample. It's a decent amount of product. Since getting it, I've used it on dry patches of skin, on my cuticles, and as an eye cream! I love this stuff as an eye cream and I'm pretty sure it's going to last me a good chunk of time. I will definitely be purchasing the full size when I run out.5
This made my hands feel pretty good, but it was extremely shiny! It looked like I had rubbed butter all over my hands. I thought it would go away after a while, but it really didn't. Too bad. I thought this would have had potential, but I don't want butter hands!1
Pretty good product. I like to use it on my cracked heels to help soften it.4
I love the idea of this product. I'm happy to buy organic beauty products. This was much more oily and thinner than most shea butters. The scent was very neutral. Nothing really wrong with it, but overall it's nothing too special either.3
This product did wonders for my dry and cracked elbows. Just a few days after using it I could tell a difference. I also liked how it left no residue.4
I love love love body butter...normally. I put this body butter on and my skin feels so oily. I had to wash my hands right after using.1
This product was nice and moisturizing to the skin I would purchase this product4
I used this on my cuticles and dry spots on my hands before I went to bed and woke up with much softer hands and nails. This product is a little greasy and doesn't smell the greatest (like any shea butter product) so I would only use at night when sleeping. Great product and so glad to have received it in this month's Birchbox!5
This is an excellent moisturizer. It's thick and heals even my driest skin. It's not to different from some of the other stuff I use though.5
This sample was a nice surprise and I like that it is organic. Made my hands super soft.4
