Not all shea butters are created equal. The eco-conscious folks behind Shea Terra Organics sourced this unrefined version from the Otuwe Shea Butter Cooperative in Uganda, which is famous for abundant rainfall that helps shea trees flourish. Local women harvest the nuts by hand before sending them to a mill, where they’re distilled for the rich moisturizer that’s great for face, body, cuticles, and hair alike. Compared to its more common West African counterpart, this East African shea butter is creamier and has a less noticeable scent, making it ideal for sensitive skin.
The texture threw me for a loop at first... More of a sugar scrub look. However very moisturizing!5
I had high expectations for this product because I am normally in love with everything shea butter. I really feel like this is literally just shea butter in a jar, and I could cook with it. It left my hands feeling greasy but hydrated. I personally do not like to oily feeling it leaves behind or the smell.2
Really liked this moisturizing non greasy cream. Did not have an overpowering smell either.4
I tried putting this product on my hands because they get very dry. I work in a hospital and have to wash my hands frequently which dries them out. This product was very greasy, and I really disliked the scent. This product is definitely not for me. It may work better on other body parts for someone who likes the scent though.1
I LOVED this product! I have never used anything like it, but I am addicted now. Definitely want to purchase after my sample is gone!5
Maybe I didn't mix it enough in the sample, but it smelled awful. HOWEVER, super effective product. really enjoyed it.4
Loved this product. I have really dry winter skin and it works wonders but I hated the smell. Otherwise, great sample and I really liked it!5
I used the Shea Butter for my cuticles, and it definitely does the trick. I currently already have a favorite hand cream line, so I will not be purchasing.4
This product feels great going on, however so far it hasn't done much in terms of keeping my skin hydrated.3
I like this product, but it wasn't anything new in the world of shea butter (to me at least.) The brand i already use will be the one i stick with.3
