Not all shea butters are created equal. The eco-conscious folks behind Shea Terra Organics sourced this unrefined version from the Otuwe Shea Butter Cooperative in Uganda, which is famous for abundant rainfall that helps shea trees flourish. Local women harvest the nuts by hand before sending them to a mill, where they’re distilled for the rich moisturizer that’s great for face, body, cuticles, and hair alike. Compared to its more common West African counterpart, this East African shea butter is creamier and has a less noticeable scent, making it ideal for sensitive skin.
I can't say enough good things about this lotion. It has really helped my dry skin without making it oily. It's perfect for winter.5
Great product, ver soft and smooth. Applies evenly and easily, unlike some other butters. Long lasting, really stays on ,
WHich can make hands a little slippery. :)
This shea butter felt great on my skin and smelled yummy! I liked how it melted into my skin and didn't feel too greasy.5
I have a skin disease and I use this on everything-- hands, face, nails, even as an eye cream. Its so versatile and great consistency!5
A bit greasy at first, but leaves my hands feeling silky smooth after it has absorbed. Like the fact that a little goes a long way. Gave this 4 stars instead of 5 because of the initial greasiness and the extra effort it takes to get the stuff out of the jar.4
As a musician, my hands go through a lot every day. This is perfect to put on at night under cotton gloves, so that my skin feels supple and less damaged in the morning, and I can get a better sound when I play. I like that it is unscented, and I like it's rich consistency.5
My experience with this product was most likely affected by the fact that it FROZE while sitting on my porch waiting to come inside! I think the whole thawing process left the consistency of the product to be somewhat desired. But it still seems to work well for my mom, so I just let her have it.2
This has worked well as a night time hand cream. It's very rich but feels a bit greasy for all over use.3
The sample size was great and I usually love lotions and handcreams, but this left a thick residue on my hands and did not absorb well. The smell was a little over powering as well.3
Very rich, soft, and creamy. Not too fragrant. I like to use it for my under eyes or dry skin in winter.4
