Not all shea butters are created equal. The eco-conscious folks behind Shea Terra Organics sourced this unrefined version from the Otuwe Shea Butter Cooperative in Uganda, which is famous for abundant rainfall that helps shea trees flourish. Local women harvest the nuts by hand before sending them to a mill, where they’re distilled for the rich moisturizer that’s great for face, body, cuticles, and hair alike. Compared to its more common West African counterpart, this East African shea butter is creamier and has a less noticeable scent, making it ideal for sensitive skin.
Sometimes shea butters tend to be too greasy for me but this one is perfect. Used it on my cuticles and dry elbows and worked great. Light scent and only had to use a little for it to make a big difference.5
Received this in my Birchbox and at first I wasn't sure what to think. Then I got the flu. My nose was so dry from blowing it, I was embarrassed to be seen. I started putting the shea butter on it as well as other dry skin patches on my face and it has moisturized them beautifully! I have extremely sensitive skin, and it seems to love the SheaTerra Nilotik shea butter. My skin actually looks radiant and moisturized. Not dull and beaten from sub zero temps and Oklahoma wind. Couldn't be happier.5
This shea butter was average at best. It was definitely light and soft and was able to moisturize my skin effectively, however, there was something that I didn't like about the overall feel of the product. It felt slightly gritty and the smell wasn't all that pleasant. I wouldn't really recommend this over any other shea butter that might better settle into the skin with a more favorable feeling and scent.3
This product is great! It moisturizes my dry winter skin without having a strong scent. I also love rubbing it into my cuticles, and it also works to shine your nails!5
Recieved my full size of this yesterday and I love it even more!!! This will be my go too for moisture from now on!!5
This seems pretty great. A little dollop went a long way, and it was very moisturizing. (I don't use shea butter often, so maybe I'm not the best person to ask.)4
This body cream is fantastic! It smells amazing and it is so thick for moisturizing. I've been wearing for the past week and my skin feels so soft.5
I didn't really appreciate the fragrance. I know that it is the natural fragrance but I just wasn't a fan. It was very moisturizing and would be great for someone with extremely dry skin. I've been using it on my feet with great results.3
I absolutely love what this does for my skin, I just don't like the smell of shea butter :( i usually use it at night...this is a really good shea butter though!4
I loved this product! It really helped my hands and cuticles in this dry winter weather. I just don't like the smell at all! Everything else about this shea butter is great though.4
