In 1977, Jane and Jean Ford, the twin sisters behind Benefit, met a local dancer who requested a long-lasting red pigment that wouldn’t budge during her shows. They listened, and this beloved rose lip and cheek stain was born. Year after year, it’s a bestseller for good reason: the translucent color leaves us with a natural flush so we look pretty, not made-up.
This is one of those products I always wanted to buy but never quite justified spending the money on it, so it's exciting to get a sample of it in Birchbox. The color gives a great flush to cheeks, with staying power. I use Benefit's cha cha tint and posie tint, and I love how they look on my cheeks, too (and that a little bit goes a long way!). I can't speak to Benetint as a lip stain.4
Good for the summer, but I'm not a huge fan of cheek/lip stains. This is the classic.4
The color of this product is beautiful, particularly on the cheeks. I think it would be great for mornings that are rushed when you really need to simplify. But it doesn't have quite the same nice finish as a traditional blush in my normal routine. Went well with my smashbox clear lip gloss for a natural looking lip color!4
I love this for my cheeks! But, I did not like it as a lip stain. The rose scent reminded me of the rose scented perfumes and lotions that were popular among older ladies when I was a kid. Anyway, I couldn't really smell it when I put it on my cheeks. But the scent was strong on my lips, and didn't really add much color, no more than a fruity lip balm would.4
I am a fan of powder blush for my cheeks, so of course I tried the benetint on my lips as a lip stain. The color is wonderful, and the scent is light rose-scented, which I liked a lot. However, this tastes terrible if you happen to lick your lips when it is either wet or already dried. I did find it to be much less sticky than other gel style lip tints, so I would be more likely to try it on my cheeks. It lasted significantly longer than other lip stains I have tried, however the application is alittle messy. My first time, I simply brushed it onto my lips and layered several coats to develop a dark stain that I desired. The formula is super watery, so it bled into the creases of my lips and even out onto the skin around my lips. I definitely suggest a red or clear lip liner to block this bleeding color if you plan to apply with the brush. The next time, I dotted it onto my lips and blended with my finger. That produced a softer effect and less bleeding, however, then my finger was red for a while. I truly prefer the "marker" pointed tip pen style applicators for lip stain. Obviously this product doubles as a cheek stain, where a pen wouldn't be the best application method, so I understand the brush for benetint. Overall, i enjoy the product. I hope they come out with an orange shade, I have been looking for one!!4
I love this product but it goes on funny. Definitely need a mirror when applying but will be using it!4
This tint is a beautiful rose red color on lips and a natural flush look on cheeks. Great product and it smells like roses what more can you ask for.4
I had wanted to try this for a while so was very pleased when it arrived in my birchbox! I love the lasting glow on my cheeks, although I haven't really been wowed when using it on my lips. The only downside for me is that it leaves my fingers red after blending.4
I love Benefit products, especially the Benetint, have been using it for years. It is a great long-lasting blush. I do not use it on my lips though as it tends to dry them out.4
It's a subtle enough color to wear during the day and of course works for a night out on the town. I like adding a shimmer lip gloss over it. Just wish it lasted a little longer.4
