In 1977, Jane and Jean Ford, the twin sisters behind Benefit, met a local dancer who requested a long-lasting red pigment that wouldn’t budge during her shows. They listened, and this beloved rose lip and cheek stain was born. Year after year, it’s a bestseller for good reason: the translucent color leaves us with a natural flush so we look pretty, not made-up.
This product is the same color as my natural lip color, and after 3 coats you can still barely see it. The color also doesn't really show on my skin as a blush. I use it as a base before lipstick mostly, though I don't like the feel of the product texture on my lips too much.3
I have a sample of this from another beauty box subscription so I was annoyed to get this in my birchbox. I don't know why this product is such a favorite because I'm not totally in love with this. It tastes disgusting and the color lasts barely 15 minutes before it has faded. Its also quite drying. There are much better tints out there for your lips. Don't even think about using it on your cheeks!3
I tried this lip stain and it's really surprising because I thought it would be really dark, but it was actually natural looking. I rarely focus on lip color, but this was a simple to apply and was a nice alternative to cakey lipstick. The stain doesn't feel like you're wearing anything at all, it soaks into the lips beautifully. Careful, my sister tried it, a small amount got in her mouth and she did not like the taste, so I'd avoid getting it inside you're mouth.4
I have been looking for a lip stain forEVER and then magically this benetint shows up in my birch box! The product goes on weird and the smell is not my favorite, but when I tried it on my cheeks as a blush - I AM IN LOVE. It stays all day, and looks perfect. I will definitely be buying for a stay-all-day blush.4
The product smells like roses, if you like that. I tried it first on my lips, and it tasted like perfume. Also, it was a very thin liquid, so it didn't moisturize lips and was hard to apply evenly, which left one area of my lip darker. For cheeks, I dotted on my cheekbones and blended. I really liked the rosy glow it gave me. I was already wearing full makeup/blush, and this kicked it up a notch. I think it might overwhelm fair skin, but worked perfectly on my medium complexion. You do need to wash your hands immediately and I think my finger was a bit stained for a few washings.2
I sampled this product:
I found that it didn't show well on my cheeks and I let the first dab dry before trying another.
It seems to show better on the pout, it's a good go-to if you are in a rush and need some lip color, but just a dab.
The color was ok, but this is incredibly drying for my lips. I didn't try it on my cheeks.2
The concept of this product is great, but it only last about 30 min.1
I haven't found a lip tint that I like in years, so imagine how happy I was to find Benetint in my box. It is a great color that can be amped up with layering. The only downside is it is drying but just use in conjunction with lip balm.5
I tried this once at ultra. The shade is pretty but it was not that easy to use and is too expensive and not something I would use everyday but I liked trying it3
