In 1977, Jane and Jean Ford, the twin sisters behind Benefit, met a local dancer who requested a long-lasting red pigment that wouldn’t budge during her shows. They listened, and this beloved rose lip and cheek stain was born. Year after year, it’s a bestseller for good reason: the translucent color leaves us with a natural flush so we look pretty, not made-up.
The tint doesn't seem to stay on well for me, and is not the nicest color. Works ok if many, many layers are added, but it's tough. Not my favorite tint, by a long shot.2
I don't like this because it's too liquidy and I can't get it to work as a blush or a lip tint.1
I have always wanted to love this product because it can be used as both blush and lipstick and is quick and easy to apply. My issue with it is that the blush can be a bit blotchy. I think I'll stick with my powder blush.3
I was excited to receive this in my box. I had heard good things about the product, but had never tried it. It's OK. I don't like the rosy flavor on my lips--too strong. Plus, I don't think it works well with mi lips.
I could see it's appeal as more of a check stain. I really like that idea, but haven't been able to get it to work well for me. I think I need more practice. If I can figure that out (and get over the scent) then I would rate it higher.
This is a good product for people who are new to makeup or who are shy about wearing color on their lips. (I'm only going to review this as a lip stain because I prefer powder for cheek color.) The color is very sheer when you apply, so it's not too shocking for beginners. You really have to layer a lot on for a noticeable tint. I find the product pretty drying but it helps to layer lip balm over it. The brush is terrible - it's really hard to control the application of the color with the brush provided. The product lasts decently, but not as well as other lip stains I use. Overall I would say this is good for someone just starting out with lip color because it's a very light natural flush color. However, I love lip stains and there are definitely a lot better out there.3
Really looks natural when used as a blush. I put shiny clear lip gloss on after I use it for lip tint. Looks really nice.3
Love this product because you can use it for more than one thing!4
Too sticky and tacky feeling. Did not last long and came off very quickly before eating or drinking anything at all1
I received a sample of this product in my welcome box. It is a thin liquid stain you brush onto your cheeks or lips, then blend with your fingers. It's challenging to get an even application on your cheeks, and the color is a little too pink for my complexion. As a lip stain, it is better but ads only a hint of rosey color. On the plus side, it smells like roses. I'll use the sample I have on my lips, but won't buy a full size when I run out.3
I have never used a lip or cheek stain before, but I like the idea. This product smells like roses, almost too sweet but not quite. It is very thin and watery, which makes it difficult to apply evenly. On my cheeks, it is too pink for my complexion. It's better on my lips but gives only a hint of rosy color that does not last long (though not less than most other lip color products, which mostly fade quickly).3
