When BY TERRY created this nourishing balm back in 2003, the brand had no idea it would gain cult classic status so quickly. A favorite of Parisian models and Hollywood actresses, the daily essential plumps and soothes chapped lips with a blend of precious actives. Pure rose essential wax smoothes away roughness, while shea butter doubles the formula's moisturizing powers, bio-ceramides undo the look of fine lines, and lipid spheres help skin retain hydration. Plus, it also works as a luxe nail treatment for dry cuticles.
I was skeptical of this product at first because it was a total impulse buy. And after wondering if I just wasted sixty dollars I finally tried it and I can't get enough!! Before this I was a carmex and burts bee's kinda girl, but now all I ever want to use is my baume de rose! The only flaw this product has is the price 60 dollars! Outrageous! I'm a high school student on a tight budget (saving for a car) and the only reason I bought it in the first place was because I got a discount that made it only 40 and thought might as well, but I think the product will last me awhile so for this reason I will probably purchase again.5
Well...I'd heard the amazing reviews on this lip baum and desperately wanted to try it out. Upon opening the cap, the first thing I noticed was the strong scent of artificial roses. I'm a migraineur so it was not a smell that agrees with me. The product is creamy and easy to apply. It's definitely hydrating but it seems about as good as a quality chapstick that I could purchase at Whole Foods for $5.00. I do not feel as though it is worth spending $59.00 for this product. It is hydrating however, there is no wow factor on this. I prefer using Jason's vitamin D oil right on my lips, it's just as good for $10.00.
So... I don't dislike it per say, but I don't love it either. For $59.00 I have to love it to buy it again.
So, know you have to practically sell a kidney to afford this, but it is amaze-balls. I rarely buy lip balm twice (I'm too much of a junkie to not want to try something new every time) but I'm on my second jar. There will be a third and fourth, no doubt. I use it mostly at night - the scent is very relaxing and it gives my lips a nice coat to get through the night. But I did decant a portion into a smaller, empty container and I've been carrying it in my purse for lip emergencies. This is one of those luxuries you owe yourself.5
This was gifted to me from a friend of mine. #1) the price... holy wow. With high price, comes high expectations. (Which unfortunately were far from met) It seems like many people rave about this balm = confused. #2) The smell... so unappealing in my opinion. It smells like straight up roses that would be in your grandmother's bathroom. #3) vaseline does more of the trick than this stuff. Luckily, I wasn't the one who spent $60.00 on it.2
I'm an easy sell and cult items are never lost on me. I love a good indulgent product but this was lackluster. The rose scent was nice and the texture lovely but it did nothing for my chapped lips..... For the cost I just don't get it. The scent alone is not enough. A nice heavy lip cream. That's it.2
Love it. You get what you pay for. This stuff is amazing and a little goes a long way. It's a little pricey but it can last you almost a full year. It also works great for cuticles. I use for my lips, cuticles and as a blush.5
This is a lovely lip balm, the scent of rose is there but not to strong , i so love this balm, I reach for it all the time , I keep this in my car which is so handy when I am travelling around , only one wish is that it was in a tube form , it's just that opening the lid and putting my hand in it is not too comfortable for me , but that doesn't stop me from using this amazing hydrating product for lip5
I really enjoyed the scent of this balm and the fact that it has sunscreen within it. It is thick and provides a lot of moisture right off the bat. However, I don't feel like it lasts very long. I like it, but I feel like I have to combine it with gloss or lipstick to make its wear last longer.4
Like others before me I don't really get it. I'm a buyer of everything balm related, with chronically chapped lips, and a tendency for redness around the lips when chapped. I pulled the trigger finally on this after reading too many great reviews to resist much longer. Honestly, I think it's not worth the hype. I love the rose scent, and the consistency is nice, but not a holy grail product in the least. I'm sad to say it's just alright, and there are plenty of equally "luxurious" cheaper options out there.3
I was a little suspicious when I discovered the retail price on this thing--but it is so good that I have to have it. It really makes my lips moisturized and smooth, and has this great Tea Rose fragrance in it too! Well worth the ridiculous price!
