We think even the pickiest sommeliers would approve of this reusable duo (though the Two-Buck Chuck you’re fond of drinking may not be so lucky). Originally designed for traveling wine salespeople to use when offering samples of their wares, the pro-quality, easy-to-transport decanter and glass are made of BPA-free polymer (they won’t shatter, even if you drop them). Toss ’em in your bag for your next picnic, concert in the park, wherever—they do “go anywhere,” after all.
Reasons why I bought this:
* I already own a 4-pack of the glasses, so this expands the set.
* I live in California, which is now effectively all wine country. But I also live right in the middle of wine country, so much wine is consumed. Plus, the weather is always nice. I think it's a against the law for there to be bad weather there. So anyway, it's almost always picnic weather. Govino is super light, it won't add weight to the picnic basket.
* My friends are clumsy. They break stuff. Hopefully they won't break this. Note that I won't admit to being clumsy.
But I also like using this as a water carafe for the nightstand, or for "morning juice" like mimosas and bloody marys at brunch.
Love this pair! Mind you they are plastic but they look like crystal in my kitchen! Plus I can take them on a picnic:)5
I very happy with the Govina "go anywhere" decanter and red wine set. I can't wait to pack it up and head out on vacation. This is so light and you feel like your drinking wine out of a glass and not a plastic cup. Fab!4
This is used as a night stand set... but can be used on almost any occasion. Pretty crystal clear cup and the decanter is so pretty it can be used as a vase. Nice set for breakfast too. Serve up some OJ or apple juice. I recommend getting the additional cups that are available on the Birchbox site.5
Very practical--I already had a set of 4 govino glasses, so I knew the material and relative quality/heft of these items, but this was my first decanter. I've loved having it around, especially for small groups and still looks great and cleans easily.
I've only had my set for a week or two but we've been using our govino glasses for about a year and expect the decanter set to have a decent age as well.
This is completely my fault because clearly polymer is not glass but these are PLASTIC. Not something I would ever want to drink wine out of. And a cheap flimsy plastic that is no duh shatterproof but is easily bendable. I am SO disappointed that I bought these. Or rather that I wasted my BB points on these. Sigh.1
I bought this knowing that it was "plastic" because it states that in the description. What I was not expecting was the low quality - especially the price. It is not designed well, either - before you drink, it is convenient enough to carry as the "cup" fits over the top of the decanter. Once you pour a drink, you have to carry them separate, as the cup does not allow remaining liquid to go into the decanter - it goes down the sides and makes a mess. It is now sitting in my cabinet taking up space...1
Although, that's probably why it's such a great price. I do like the notches for your thumb, making it practically impossible to drop/spill it. It's a great feature for pool-side wine indulgence. Bought as a gift.4
This will be nice the beach. My daughter lives in Hawaii and I am sending it to her for Christmas. She will love it. I may order another one for myself.4
I really like this decater it's made out of plastic that still feels sturdy. My only complaint is that I wish it was a little bigger so hold wine for two. I guess I will just have to order another.4
