Lulu Organics®’s organic hair powder is the hip younger sister of mainstream dry shampoos: she’s eco-conscious, health-savvy, and has vague plans of packing her bags and moving to Portland. Analogies aside, this winning natural formula revives second day locks by absorbing volume-zapping oil. It has a lovely lavender scent laced with the faintest trace of herbal clary sage. And since it leaves no chalky white residue behind, even dark-haired girls can use it.
I was actually very excited to get this in my box. I really wanted to try a dry shampoo and although I loved the way this stuff smelt, my fears were confirmed in that I found that dry powder does bad things to dry curly hair. I, m sure it is great on strait oily hair. Not for me though.1
I have dark hair and many dry shampoos do not work well for me. Well, they work but leave a weird white residue. For the ones that do work, I often will have to brush over and over again to try to get the white out. I found one that worked, no white, but the scent was awful. Another made my scalp itch. Now I sound like Goldilocks (what about Chocolocks?). This is almost Just Right. It doesn't leave my hair white or flaky, works well, and I'm not allergic to it. The scent is subtle. The only thing I don't like is that it can be a little messy. With one exception, most dry shampoos I've used spray. This one is a loose powder. Once you get the hang of it, it's great!4
I thought it was just as effective as my dry shampoo and it is easier to apply!4
The smell was nice and the product was effective. Not buying only because I'm not into using dry shampoo.4
After trying at least 4 other hair powder products, all with so-so results, I wasn't very excited to try another one. This is the first one that I tried that wasn't a spray. So much better! No talc, so no white residue, no waiting to brush the excess out, etc. By pouring some into your hand, you can see exactly how much you're using. The Clary Sage + Lavender scent is really nice, too.5
I would rather use a dry shampoo in a spray can. Using this powder was messy and I didn't feel like it worked any better than others I can get at local stores.2
Dry shampoos usually don't blend into my dark hair well and this one did. That's what I liked about it. However i don't particularly care for the smell.4
I loved the smell of this hair powder, but it didn't absorb very much oil. I definitely wasn't fooling anyone into thinking my hair was clean. I also didn't like the application - you pour it into your hand and rub through hair rather than spraying into roots.3
I really liked this product. It absorbed the oil in my hair, with the excess powder brushing out very easily. You couldn't tell I put powder in my light brown hair. The scent smells good-I could smell it in my hair all day long. The only downside was that I didn't feel like I could wear perfume that day because the smell was so prominent in my hair.3
I don't have oily hair, so maybe I just don't get dry shampoo. But when I use it it just makes my hair a dry mess. But this brand has a nice soft scent.2
