Lulu Organics®’s organic hair powder is the hip younger sister of mainstream dry shampoos: she’s eco-conscious, health-savvy, and has vague plans of packing her bags and moving to Portland. Analogies aside, this winning natural formula revives second day locks by absorbing volume-zapping oil. It has a lovely lavender scent laced with the faintest trace of herbal clary sage. And since it leaves no chalky white residue behind, even dark-haired girls can use it.
I've only used dry shampoo sprays before, so this was a nice sample to try out. The scent was good and the performance wasn't bad at all, just had to be careful not to over apply! I think I may prefer sprays because of the easy to use part, but I did like that my hair wasn't heavy feeling and it absorbed well, leaving a nice scent behind!3
This was my first time using dry shampoo, and I'm quite pleased. I love the smell of lavender, so I really liked the scent of the powder. The strong herby sage smell is a bit overpowering when you first pour the powder onto your hand, but the smell gets sweeter after it's applied. The powder absorbs the extra oil nicely, and disappears on the hair without leaving white powdery residue.4
Although I enjoyed using this product, the packaging was very poor so I could not save it for multiple uses. I would like to see it in a resealable container in the future.3
I would usually wash my hair by day 3, but this helped me go an extra day. I thought the scent was good, but it looked a little white in my hair at first.4
For me this product was just okay…but then again I've never been a big fan of hair powders. They just don't work well with my hair texture.3
So, I have really oily hair and have to wash it daily. I tried this powder the day after washing my hair and I ended up having to use quite a bit to feel like the oil was really absorbed, which ended up leaving my hair pretty white-tinted. I think for girls with less oily hair it would be a better option, but for me, it's not worth the purchase.3
I haven't tried this product yet but I am very excited to. I only wash my hair every other day and sometimes every two days and sometimes my hair gets a good sheen to it. So I hope this powder can get me through those off days!3
If you have thin hair, or less oily hair, then ignore my review and look at the other ones. I have rather thick, auburn hair that gets really oily after just 18 hours of not washing, which gets rather irritating as you can probably imagine. I normally laugh at dry shampoos, but I got this free sample with my Birchbox, and the point is to test them out, so I did. This product didn't do anything for my hair, or me, except make me want to sneeze from the smell. The sample size is more than enough for multiple uses, but the way the sample is given makes it impossible to re-seal, and that is a problem. I did like the scent to an extent, but this product didn't help my hair at all, and I wouldn't spend my money on it. Given that, I do have very oily, thick hair.3
The smell is really great! I have very thick, course hair and I have no problem going 48 hours between washes (in fact, it seems to be better for my hair that I don't wash it every day) but on the 2nd day, I like a little boost. For this I usually use Batiste aerosol for brunettes. This powder seemed heavy on my hair and it didn't give it that fresh feeling that I was used to.2
This was my first attempt at a dry shampoo, and it's awesome. I love the packaging, the scent, and the idea. My sample has actually lasted me about 5 uses and it's not even done yet! The only thing that I have a hard time with is that the amount that I have to use can't really stay in my palms without falling and getting everywhere, so I either have to do smaller amounts a few times, or brush it on my scalp and my roots. I love this product. Thank you, Birchbox!5
