We used to get frustrated that smoky eye tutorials didn't take the spectrum of eye shapes into account (after all, were a diverse bunch). Turns out we weren't alone. After nine years of research examining thousands of faces, the makeup pros at Smashbox narrowed it down to six common eye shapes found throughout the world: almond, round, upturned, downturned, monolid, and hooded. They applied their findings to this universal neutral palette, which comes complete with a guide to help you identify your eye shape and master three flattering looks for it (day, night, and defined). The top has seven shimmery shades and on the bottom, you'll find seven matte hues, ranging from nudes to blacks. Oh, and there's also a double-sided brush, a built-in mirror, and a travel-size Full Exposure Mascara.
I REALLY wanted to be in love with this palette. It took me some time to decide to actually get it, but I did after using some points. I must say, I wish there was some way I could get my points back because this palette, while gorgeous in the packaging, is horrible. The shadows lack pigmentation on both ends (matte and shimmer). The shimmers have TONS of fallout, there was more on my desk and my cheeks than on my eyes. After working at it for quite some time, I still can't see what I put on. I'm going to try to use them wet and see what happens but this was a bad buy for me. The mascara and brush were awesome though.1
I found that this had quite a lot of fallout, even when patted with a flat eyeshadow brush. Great pigmentation though.1
I was very excited about this product and love the packaging, the brush, the variety of colors and the little instruction booklet that gives you ideas for day and night. They also apply well and stay on and the mascara was OK too. My problem, however, is that most of the shadows have a yellow undertone. Apparently this works for most people because I don't see any reviews that express a problem with it, but if you have red undertones to your skin like I do these colors look horrendous and will make you look jaundice! I love Birchbox and took a chance on this expensive product, now I am just hoping my experience with their return policy is a good one...1
I expected more. These were okay but they should have been better. Some shades were better than others but not worth a repurchase. I gave it away.1
This sample was not big enough to test nor could I actually pull the sample off the paper. Sad, this could have been a nice sample with the mascara provided.1
I could not properly use the samples from the card. Shadows may be ok but i couldn't use them without getting frustrated.1
The product itself was okay but there was not nearly enough product to test it. I could use this paper card once before I would toss it.1
I'm not sure if the glitter/shimmer portion is meant to be so light that you'd have to reapply 5 times or not, but I was sorely disappointed . I wanted to like this because the colors are lovely , but the glitter shades are worthless. The matte shades are great however. Waste of money, I'd wish I'd gotten the Lorac Pro palette instead1
Really liked the shades and texture of the eyeshadow. Went on smooth and long lasting . Wanted more colors to try1
Very small of the eyeshadow on the paper. Definitely not not worth it to be an item as part of the box.1
