We used to get frustrated that smoky eye tutorials didn't take the spectrum of eye shapes into account (after all, were a diverse bunch). Turns out we weren't alone. After nine years of research examining thousands of faces, the makeup pros at Smashbox narrowed it down to six common eye shapes found throughout the world: almond, round, upturned, downturned, monolid, and hooded. They applied their findings to this universal neutral palette, which comes complete with a guide to help you identify your eye shape and master three flattering looks for it (day, night, and defined). The top has seven shimmery shades and on the bottom, you'll find seven matte hues, ranging from nudes to blacks. Oh, and there's also a double-sided brush, a built-in mirror, and a travel-size Full Exposure Mascara.
About a month ago I was looking at Sephora for a new palette. I love the colors on this Smashbox one, but the top shadows all looked super glittery, which I am not a fan of. I got the Lorac Pro palette instead. I was pleasantly surprised when I got this sample to find out that they don't show up as sparkling on the skin. Also these shadows seem to stay on way longer than the Lorac palette I purchased. Decided to bite the bullet and purchase this one too.5
I have never used anything from Smashbox before and I am sure it's a nice product line. I was disappointed in the sample size/type - it really makes it hard to use "your colors" more than once and it takes me a time or two to decide how I like a product or if I can work with it. That said it was a nice texture but really nothing special or something I am going to tun out and buy.4
I really like the range of colors in the palette, however, the packaging is pretty inconvenient. It's all on paper! I'd rather have gotten 1 or 2 of the colors in a more transportable packaging. Either way, great colors! A Lot of variety.3
these neutrals are gorgeous. the ones with a little bit of sparkle are very beautiful5
The matte and shimmer options are great. What I like to do is wear a matte eyeshadow during the day for work and then if I have to be somewhere at night, I'll put some shimmer on top of the eyeshadow I've already put on in the morning so I don't have to completely redo my eyes. I loved this product because it was a great way to let me do that. My problem with these kinds of sets though is that it includes colors I never end up using. I wouldn't buy this but would spend some time looking for the colors I like individually.4
These eye shadows are really great. Highly pigmented and go on smoothly without having to layer on to achieve the color. They also lasted all day and night without using any primer. The mascara worked pretty good too, but is better for length rather than volume or definition.5
This was by far my favorite item in the February box. I am a big fan of Urban Decay's Naked Palettes but I think I loved this more! The shadows went on smooth, stayed on all day and I got compliments on how great my eyes looked. I highly recommend!5
I have seen this palette around but wasn't going to purchase because I already have so many neutral palettes but these colors are amazing!5
Goes on smooth, really really love the shimmery colors.4
I really like all the colors in this! Not really enough of a sample to really get a feel for the quality, but Smashbox is generally awesome anyway!5
