We used to get frustrated that smoky eye tutorials didn't take the spectrum of eye shapes into account (after all, were a diverse bunch). Turns out we weren't alone. After nine years of research examining thousands of faces, the makeup pros at Smashbox narrowed it down to six common eye shapes found throughout the world: almond, round, upturned, downturned, monolid, and hooded. They applied their findings to this universal neutral palette, which comes complete with a guide to help you identify your eye shape and master three flattering looks for it (day, night, and defined). The top has seven shimmery shades and on the bottom, you'll find seven matte hues, ranging from nudes to blacks. Oh, and there's also a double-sided brush, a built-in mirror, and a travel-size Full Exposure Mascara.
A sample CARD for eyeshadow? It is absolutely not enough for even 1 use, and it came damaged because of all my other samples rolling over it during shipping. It was an entire sample wasted.5
These eyeshadows are really nice, they blend well and last a long time without wearing off or creasing.5
To say that I was disappointed with this sample would be to put it mildly. It's nice that you can try out all the colors in the palette, but they're thin smudges on a piece of cardstock. I expect more from birchbox, especially when two other samples in my box this month are extremely chintzy.1
I am a dedicated UD Naked palette user--I have 1 and 3 and I adore them to death. This Smashbox palette is a solid group of colors. I like the metallics/shimmery shades MUCH MORE on the Naked palettes. The one advantage of the Smashbox is that it has more matte colors in one box. Still, I prefer the Naked palettes because you can choose your undertone group that works best for your skin. Full Exposure seems a little yellow-y to me.3
This is really great. Nice pigment and a lovely range of matte versus shimmer! Love it!5
I love the colors and I love smashbox however what was in the box this month for a sample was a joke. In my opinion it shouldn't even count.5
I love this shimmer shades in the palette, however, I absolutely cannot believe the sample packaging. Birchbox did a great job sampling the Reveal brand eyeshadow palette, not sure what happened with Smashbox4
I have another Smashbox palette that I love and the colors of this palette are also great. I just thought the sample was hard to use. I'd rather have gotten a sample of just 1 color that I could use properly.4
I used the matte shadows in my Smashbox palette yesterday. Loved it!! So easily blendable. I will be purchasing this product in the future!!4
these shadows are great. smooth and nice pigment as I am a brown skinned chica ;) not sure if i will buy but will keep on my to do list :)4
