We used to get frustrated that smoky eye tutorials didn't take the spectrum of eye shapes into account (after all, were a diverse bunch). Turns out we weren't alone. After nine years of research examining thousands of faces, the makeup pros at Smashbox narrowed it down to six common eye shapes found throughout the world: almond, round, upturned, downturned, monolid, and hooded. They applied their findings to this universal neutral palette, which comes complete with a guide to help you identify your eye shape and master three flattering looks for it (day, night, and defined). The top has seven shimmery shades and on the bottom, you'll find seven matte hues, ranging from nudes to blacks. Oh, and there's also a double-sided brush, a built-in mirror, and a travel-size Full Exposure Mascara.
I love this palette! All the colors were really flattering and went on very well. I definitely want to purchase more makeup from smashbox in the future.4
I really love smashbox eye shadows, I think they are very blend able and pigmented. However, I could take or leave the exposure pallete. The shimmery shades aren't very opaque and have fall out. I think there are better nude pallete out there. My favorite right now are the Too Faced chocolate pallets.3
This palette isn't bad, but it isn't the best either. There is a large color range and some of the colors really transform when water is added. That being said, i really only find these shadows working the best for me when they are wet. The shadows dry aren't very pigmented or bendable, but when water is added, they can really pop. This isn't the palette I reach for the most, but does have some unique colors to it.3
I’ve always loved Smashbox shadows. The sample I received had four beautiful colors. My only complaint is that I had to layer them over a sparkly base for the pigment to show on two of the colors. Other than that, I loved them!4
Good pigment concentration on most shades. Golds especially rich and beautiful3
I'm sure this is a great product but the sample size was not enough to do anything with. Maybe more product and less variety so you can actually test it2
Pigment payoff is low, which I LOVE. It's much easier for blending, building and creating the perfect eye look. Essential colors in this pallet for all eyes!5
These shadows have great color, but you need many layers to get a very glittery glam look. But they blend well and stay on also!4
I love this palette. I just hate the brushes that come with it. I have my own brushes that I prefer to use.
The colors are nice and I like that they shadow doesn't make those lines that cheap shadow does after wearing it all day.
The matte's are a great compliment to any eyeshadow routine. The shimmers are stand alone great. I went in to buy one of the naked pallettes and ended up getting this instead for neutrals. I've had it for about a year and tend to use it every other day (I did end up with the Naked 3 pallette which is not similar to this on at all and LOVE it) Great pallette to own, worth it!5
