Thanks to the BB trend, we've come to expect all our makeup to contain ingredients once reserved for the fanciest of moisturizers. This sampler of Smashbox best sellers has just what we need: It features travel-size versions of the brand's signature Camera Ready BB Cream SPF 35, which keeps oil in check while delivering UV protection, and antiaging Halo Hydrating Perfecting Powder, made with 11 amino acids and a potent peptide to reverse the look of fine lines. Plus, it has a deluxe sample of the antioxidant-rich Photo Finish Foundation Primer, with vitamins and emollients to smooth out skin, and a Baby Buki Brush small enough to take on the go for any touchups.
Bought this thinking it would work but nope. Left me orange and spotty dnt think I would buy again. Returning it...1
I was so excited to try these products and then so disappointed after I did. This trio should be right up my alley - I use primer, BB cream, and powder everyday. My complaints - the BB cream's texture was gritty and therefore difficult to spread/blend. And the powder left my skin looking yellow. Even my makeup-blind husband noticed something was off as soon as I emerged from the bathroom (he actually used the term "jaundice"). I wore the trio all day, to see if I would like it better if I got used to it. No such luck. That night at dinner my friend noticed the yellow tint as well. One positive - the primer felt amazing on my skin. I will likely buy the full size of just the primer after I use up my current supply of something else. Thankfully, I bought the kit at Ulta and was able to return it for a full refund. (I didn't buy the kit from Birchbox because my shade was out of stock.)1
The product is ok but as far as what you're getting for your money, it's definitely NOT worth it! These are the size of the free samples the mall gives away during certain promotions. The tubes are smaller than my index finger and probably only have about two to three (max) applications in them. Definitely not worth paying this much money for the sample size they send you.1
I was really looking forward to recieving this package since I love BB and CC creams and I usually love smashbox products, but this one was aweful! I always get the light/med and all the other creams fit my color nicely but not only was this one too dark it was a fake orangy color..not at all attractive. The powder was the same with the fake orangy tint. The only redeeming quality of this kit was the primer which I liked and the only thing I actually used.2
I usually love this brand and think their makeup is of great quality, however I was not happy with the quality of this product. The brush was very small, had a weird smell, and turned my washcloth a blue/black color when I dabbed out the extra powder. The BB cream had an overwhelmingly bad smell that I did not enjoy. The halo was great although it did not prevent as much shine as I would have wanted. Lastly, there is still nothing more effective than the photo finish primer.2
But I didn't. I really hate brushes that don't have handles, so that didn't get much use. The container for the halo powder is the best idea I've ever seen for a powder. (As you turn it, the powder filters up, no accidentally getting too much). The bb cream? no. Just no. Too dark and weird looking.2
I was very excited to try this product. I am not a huge fan of face makeup because I hate the way it feels. I thought this product would be light and breathable while still having good coverage. I found my skin to feel very greasy and also had an orangey tint. Not good!2
Though I know this is a Try-it kit however the tubes of primer and Bb cream are so small. Not happy with it2
I liked that I was able to try several products without investing in full size versions, but I did not really like any of these collectively or individually. I've used WAY better BB creams. I've used WAY better powders. The primer is just okay. And I didn't really expect much for the little kabuki brush, so I got what I expected there. Yes, these products were better than having nothing, but there are definitely better options out there for me.2
Maybe I just have drier skin then most, but the Halo Hydrating Perfecting Powder and BB cream dry my skin out. I'll say it's not as dry as with some products, but I'm still not pleased considering the brand and price. The primer has a great texture to it and if I apply a good moisturizer before it I can use it without my skin drying out. I wanted to like it so badly!3
