If our beauty routines are any indication, history truly has a tendency to repeat itself. This sampler set from Smashbox has inspired us to seek out some novelty in our makeup regimen. It’s packed with the brand’s best sellers in portable travel sizes. There are two lightweight primers for your face and lids, a double-duty mascara, a smudge-proof black pencil liner, and a nude gloss.
I got this kit because I tried the Photo-Ready primer through a sample in my Birchbox a while back, and wanted to check out the other things before purchasing. The price can't be beat, really, the "sample" sizes are generous, and should last at least a few weeks with 'normal' use--some of them even longer, like the lip gloss and eyeliner.
>The primer is awesome, a chick-pea sized amount is good for the face and neck. It goes on like silk and really gives your BB cream or foundation a smooth, matte surface... not to mention the staying power.
>The eyes shadow primer is also good, though really catered to fairer-skinned ladies. I had to dab a bit with my fingers to "blend" it onto my lids so that its presence wasn't so obvious.
>The eyeliner is decent, probably one of the better pencil liners I've used. It goes on dark and smooth... and doesn't tug. Its staying power isn't as impressive as some liquid liners.
>The mascara is not for me, unfortunately, but that's ok, that's what this kit is for. It went on a little too thick, a little clumpy, but boy is it ever waterproof... you'll definitely need make-up remover for this guy.
>The lip gloss is nice. It goes on pretty sheer, peachy/sparkly and just gives your lips a little bit of color and shine without looking like you ate a glazed doughnut. It looked especially nice over some red lip stain.
All in all, this kit is great, even if you just use the stuff for travel, it's all pretty solid, quality stuff. You won't regret this buy at all!
I bought this for a make-up exchange, and The girl was so happy with what she recieved. I would definitly buy this for myself as well.5
I love, love, love this sampler. The mascara is especially amazing. Stays all day!! I don't wear much eyeliner so this was perfect for me, being such a small pencil I can fit it anywhere. I also liked the gloss, not sticky like some other types.5
This is a great kit to try everything Smashbox. I especially liked the mascara sample, and the lip gloss...a little too nude in color, but it feels pretty nice!4
This is my first time using smashbox. I loved the primer. I have oily skin and this helped control my T-Zone. The mascara was amazing and gave me a nice sultry eye. The lip gloss was nice added to a pink matte lipstick and the eye primer really kept my shadow in place. Overall this a great stash to keep in a backpack or purse.5
I loved almost everything in this! I did not like how sticky the lip gloss felt it was not a nice lip gloss. The rest of it though everything worked so nice! I was so sad when it all ran out4
I loved this little sample pack...I've ordered all the items in it and I couldn't be happier. I like Smashbox products5
I love smashbox as a brand, so getting to try some of their top products was awesome. The primer was my absolute favorite. Makes putting on foundation so easy.5
I'm pretty flexible when it comes to my makeup products but since giving this set a shot my foundation, eyelid primer, BB Cream, and other such products are now Smashbox. A lot of other foundations and the like left my skin feeling oily or gross but that was not the case with the Smashbox products. They matched my skin tone perfectly as well. I highly recommend giving this kit a shot <3 The eyeliner was pretty smudge resistant, I still managed to have some smudging from it through a normal day but not much, and I loved the intensity of the black mascara.5
not worth paying for it, but if its free...try it. You might like a thing or two. I didnt like any of the products that came inside the try it box.1
