If we could go back in time and catch a glimpse of Greta Garbo’s vanity table, we’re pretty sure we’d find a little pot of rouge like this one there. The versatile lip and cheek cream is making its rounds through Hollywood—in fact, it appeared in the Oscar-winning movie The Artist. Designed by Bésame founder and vintage beauty buff Gabriela Hernandez, it takes its influences from the ’30s with a red and gold floral tin.
Gorgeous color! Like the packaging, a little hard to close but not a big a deal. A little goes a long way!5
what can I say, I love vintage and this reminds me of vintage, I use a little rouge everyday on the apple of my cheeks and even as a lip tint!!5
Because of joining Birchbox, I've braved realms I never thought I'd brave: lip stain and rouge. I just was never confident enough I could pull off rosy cheeks and colored lips without looking like a clown... maybe it had something to do with my 12 year old self looking like the Joker after getting into my older sister's cosmetics one time. Anyway, childhood trauma aside, I've sampled some things through Birchbox and decided that yes, a grown woman can rock this stuff and look great! After trying out a few different multi-purpose lip-cheek stains, I decided to get something that seemed to have some pretty great reviews. I don't regret the "risk" of buying something I've never sampled. This stuff is great! As long as you practice "Less is More" on the cheeks, you'll look cute and flushed... not embarrassed and ready for the big-top. As a lip stain, it takes a bit of work, puckering, etc. to get even coverage (I recommend a brush over your fingertip) and you make need a quick layer of balm, but this stain lasts! The tin it comes in is just the cutest thing and instantly classes up your vanity. It's a little bratty about being closed, as the lid needs to be perfectly straight over the container, but hey, I'm more concerned if the product inside the package works as opposed to the packaging itself. You want a long lasting, classic, multi-functional rouge? Go with this one.4
This is so much better than the blush in powder form because this one stays on all day and a little dab on the finger is enough to rub on one cheek, plus the color goes well for my olive skintone.5
I love all-around lip/cheek tints like these so I was really excited to get this in the mail.
The color is beautiful though I wish they would come out with other pinks/purples as well.
It goes on well and is smooth if you want a deep intense red. For lighter tints of red, it's harder to spread it on thinly but when the tin is warmed, the cream becomes very smooth.
overall, great purchase and the marketing makes me feel like i'm in old hollywood, so yay.
This stuff is amazing!! I absolutely love it! For cheeks, I recommend using fingers versus a brush. While I usually apply liquid blush with a brush, this is a bit creamier. If you think it's too dry for lips then put some gloss over it! And the case isn't hard to open - you just have to turn the lid. Pulling straight up doesn't work because it's a lids that cuts out all of the air. That's how lids work ;)5
I was looking for a great cream blush that would last all day, have a generous amount of product, and not break the bank. This blush did that. Just a little bit goes a long way and lasts all day. I have medium skin and dirty blonde hair. This blush easily allows me to control how much color I want on a given day or for a given event. The only downside is I find it difficult to open and close the tin (well, mostly closing) but the more I use it, the more used to it I get. I can't recommend this product enough, especially for those that want one color, a great price, and a product that will last all day and for many, many uses.5
I saw this on the website under Birchbox Exclusives for Makeup and had to have the little red decorated tin because it looked just like what Grandmother "Miriam" had given my Mother right before her death. So for the sake of keeping the same type rouge going in our family, I purchased mine, which came with a lovely matching lipstick in a case with a very similar design. I love the rouge but it's a bit hard to open if you are weak, which I am from my MS, and if so, get your mate to open it for you. I have cut myself twice on the tin rim, which is as sharp as a razor blade. That said I was sent a second one at no charge thanks to my lovely Emily, who takes such good care of me at Birchbox whenever I need her help. So hopefully it will open more easily, if not my husband will have to do the honors which won't make him too happy but at least he likes the color, unlike many of my other rouges or powdered blushes. I really do like the colors in this little duet. So BRAVO Birchbox once again.5
My daughter bought this for me and I just want anyone who is debating on getting it to just go ahead and buy it for yourself..You deserve to have this in your makeup collection and will be so glad when you use it for the first time. You can apply with finger or a blush brush. I also like putting a little dab on my lips and then I have beautiful lips all day too! LOVE IT!5
I am searching for the perfect cream blush - 2nd one I've tried from BB. I love the color of this rouge - bright and alive - other reviewers are correct - a little bit goes a long way. I do wish it blended a bit better - color does stay. Packaging is divine...4
