If the skincare world had a gifted program, this vitamin C face treatment from Paula’s Choice would be a shoo-in. The light-as-water formula visibly brightens skin in a matter of weeks, fading dark spots and wrinkles caused by everything from acne to sun exposure. Not only that, but it promotes plumper, younger-looking skin with a blend of smoothing antioxidants and collagen boosters. If acne is still a nuisance for you, fear not—the fast-drying liquid is ideal for all skin types and won’t clog your pores.
I was so excited to see a sample of this in my first Birchbox because it reassured me this service would be a good fit. I switched all my skincare over to Paula's Choice in December, including C15, and I have been thrilled with the results. I'm in my late thirties so I'm starting to see all consequences of a lifetime of not taking the best care of my skin: hyperpigmentation (melasma), uneven skin tone, the occasional acne, wrinkles and lots of post-acne hyperpigmentation. Paula's Choice products have helped me to stay off the prescription stuff, which I thought was my only hope.
This particular Vitamin C serum is awesome. I can't believe people are complaining about it after only one week of use- it takes time! Nothing works that quickly, unless its done in your doctor's office. Having used it faithfully for 2 months (as well as her serums) I have most definitely seen results.
As for the smell, I consider it a good thing. If you want to smell good, wear a perfume. If you want great skin, use this stuff. It's smells the way it does because PC doesn't add unnecessary and potentially irritating fragrances because that's whats best for your skin. As for the consistency, I agree it sticky, but I believe it has to do with keeping the Vitamin C stable. I also like the packaging of this (the full size)- Vitamin C is highly volatile, and a lot of companies don't properly package their serums, letting light and air into the container, which makes it molecularly unstable.
For those that don't like it, I sincerely urge you to keep at it (and add a PC serum). I didn't even know I had such strong feelings about this skin care line until I wrote this review! But seriously, it really works and its at a great price point (compared to similar products). In my opinion, its the best topical Vitamin C product on the market.
I didn't see a long term effect on my skin, but it was also a bit difficult to manuever with the dropper. I think if the scent had been nicer I might have been prone to keep using it, but as it is I don't see a need for this in addition to my moisturizer.2
This serum went on easily and didn't feel weird on my skin. I didn't fall in love with it, but i liked it. The eye dropper was weird and awkward for me.4
This is a worthy product. It smells nice and goes on well. It seemed to make some difference in my complexion.5
I have been using the product daily for a little over a week now, and I have not seen a difference in the way my skin looks.3
I'm not sure this product did much for my skin at all... i used it morning and night after cleansing, before moisturizing until the sample ran out and i didn't see much difference in my skin. I will not be purchasing this product.2
I used this product a few times, and saw minimal, if any, results. It smells terrible and is expensive.3
This has to be one of the worst smelling beauty product I've ever used. Also, it's super sticky. Effective ness was good, but I have other face serums that work just as well.3
Kind of oily but moisturizing and leaves my skin bright3
I really appreciated that this came in an actual bottle with an applicator rather than a tear off packet. It's hard to tell long term effects from a sample, but vitamin c is so beneficial that I'll use every drop to try it out.3
