A wise woman once said that a great shampoo is the foundation of great hair. Take her sage advice seriously, and stock up on this apothecary line’s zesty formula. Originally a hotel exclusive, C.O. Bigelow released it to the public after countless fans called to sing its praises. Infused with refreshing lavender and peppermint scents, it leaves hair shiny and clean every time you lather up.
I should have listened to other reviewers on this one. I didn't love the smell and it's hard to get this shampoo to lather in my hair without using a whole palm full! I was disappointed with the size but thats my fault for not paying attention to the description.1
This product contains sulfates - I don't use shampoo with harsh detergents and surfactants, so while the smell is lovely, it's just not good for my hair.1
I try to avoid shampoos that contain such harsh ingredients in it like this esp. Sodium Laureth Sulfate, it's said to cause hair-loss as well being claimed to cause cancer.
I was really looking forward to trying this too, but after reading the ingredient label..No thank you. Knowing that possibility doing more harm than good for you hair! You should look the ingredients up, i'm sure the Birchbox team and writers would be enlightened to know & share this info..
It may work for other hair types, but the chemicals in this shampoo are not healthy for my curly hair.1
Like I said in my review of the counterpart conditioner, this duo is the worst thing I have ever received in my Birchbox. Here are just a few reasons I severely dislike this shampoo: Do NOT use if you have colored hair, as Sodium Laureth Sulfate (the dreaded SLS) is the second ingredient...that will strip your color faster than you can say "this stuff smells like vomit"...well actually, it smells like the stuff that they would put on vomit when you were in elementary school. Yes, you know EXACTLY what I'm talking about. Contrary to what the name of the product would lead you to believe, there is no lavender or peppermint essential oils listed in the ingredients. There is the dubious linalool...but there is also Wheat Gluten. ??? In any case, this dried out my normal-straight hair and the conditioner made it feel even worse. After blow-drying I had a frizz halo. Can't recommend.1
I actually don't use regular shampoo/conditioner on my hair. I use only WEN by Chaz Dean cleansing conditioner. However, this stuff had a pleasant smell and I did give the samples to my sister. I'm sure this is a great product, and if I used regular shampoo it would have been a great sample.1
I think it would smell better if it was just peppermint, but it's ok. You need A LOT to get a good lather on your whole head. I wouldn't purchase it again2
I ordered this because I love lavender. When I received it I was surprised how small it was, so I referred back to the website and realized they are 8 oz bottles, which is about a third of the normal size of a shampoo/conditioner bottle. Next time I will pay more attention to the size. Anyway, I used it once and I wasn't very impressed. Both the shampoo and conditioner feel really cheap, like hotel products. Then I read the reviews and it actually is a hotel product! I have fine straight hair and I found the shampoo to be really harsh/stripping and the conditioner was way to light. The only thing this product has going for it is the smell. I gave it to my husband and he liked it, but he doesn't have barely any hair.2
Smells good but it takes a lot of product if you have long hair. It doesn't leave your hair feeling like you just used high quality product. Pass it up and try something else.2
I felt like I had to use a lot of the product to get it to lather up like a shampoo should. I went through the product very quickly, even though I have short, fine hair. The smell is great, but I wasn't impressed with the rest.2
