Some people forego using toner to avoid potential side effects like an uncomfortable stinging sensation or the risk of breakouts. But with this alcohol-free, oil-free formula from Avène, your love-hate relationship with toner is about to turn into more of a love-love one. Enriched with Avène’s ultrasoothing Thermal Spring Water, this gentle toner maintains skin’s natural pH to leave it feeling fresh and soft, never dry.
I bought this on a whim after being enchanted by one of my UK friends who is obsessed with Avene. I have super oily skin that does tend to be a bit dehydrated during fall/winter so I picked this up to get me through the upcoming seasons. Living in Southern California has made my oily skin forever a hassle to deal with, so I'm very iffy about using toners that say things like extra moisturizing or anything in relation to adding excess amount of product on my face which will make it oily. This toner makes my skin feel so very soft and is great to use after an exfoliating toner. It has a lovely smell and for me that's super important for a product to have. I don't mind if it might be a bit too much for sensitive people (the scent I mean) but it is heavenly. I definitely will be repurchasing this as I have a feeling this will be gone within 1.5 months or so (I have a big face!).5
I tried this product, hoping to reduce my pore size without a harsh product that would break out my sensitive skin. The formula might be appropriate for extremely dry skin, but my combination skin was greasy for days after each use. I passed it on to my husband...who has no idea what to do with toner or why he even needs it. Disappointing.1
I love this toner. It is so gentle and leaves my skin super soft. It is especially nice after a clay mask to restore the skin's balance.5
I have been using this toner for several weeks now, and I am really liking it. I have not used toners in a long time because they always leave my skin feeling tight and dry. This one gives me a cool, refreshed feeling but I do not notice any tightness or increased dryness afterwards.4
I am over 50 and really rarely does my skin break out. When I started using this toner my skin stated breaking out. You have to shake this toner before each use which is also a pain!!3
I have very sensitive skin and my dermatologist recommend this brand to me. I am in love! I have purchased multiple skin care products from this brand and have never had a problem with sensitivity. This toner is great and always cools down my face before I apply a moisturizer and my makeup.5
I bought this Toner as a finish for the Avene Foam Cleanser. I have Rosacea but the usual medical treatments are not working, strangely, on just one side of my face. Doctor is clueless so I thought I'd try Avene with its reputation for calming and soothing.
It has not "cured" the problem, but I can also see it does not redden or annoy the skin surface like some toners. It does not feel crisp, bracing, cool or tight. It's barely noticeable going on, and leaves a clean finish.
I am in my 50's, so no need to control oil. Avene Toner is a mild toner that someone might like who feels "regular" or "acne" types are too strong. It's for people who feel they have just not been able to use toner in the past. This one I use without any fear.
It contains "French" water and you can see the water and other contents swirling a bit; so shake very gently.
