First of all, this fragrance shares very little in common with the original Shalimar. It is very floral, very feminine powdery iris with a rich patchouli base that keeps it from being dainty. This fragrance initially was too powdery for me, but the more I wore it the more I grew to love it, so much that it is now one of my favorites in my collection (I own around 20 full size bottles, and many more travel size). One spray to the neck lasts the entire day, and against the warmth of skin it smells so good, especially as time goes on. I have receieved a ton of compliments when I wear this, and it is one of my boyfriend's favorites on me. Another thing to note is that this fragrance was discontinued by Guerlain earlier this year- it is a happy surprise that Birchbox carries it, as it's already reaching cult status among the perfume community.
