Birchbox Breakdown

NYC-based Hair Rules wants women to love experimenting with their style outside of the salon, which is why they’ve created a haircare line to help along the way. This moisturizing treatment does exactly what it’s supposed to do (read: hydrate, condition, and loosen knots) and nothing else (like weigh down your hair or leave behind residue). It’s a leave-in that will actually leaven your locks.

How to Use

After shampooing, add a quarter-sized amount of conditioner to wet hair. For finer hair, apply a nickel-sized amount. Dry and style as you normally would. Also good for wet setting.

Water, cyclopentasiloxane, butylene glycol, C12-15 alkyl benzoate, persea gratissma (avocado) oil, phenyl trimethicone, honey, hedychium coronarium (awapuhi) root extract, cymbopogon schoenanthus (lemongrass) extract, humulus lupulus (hops) extract, olea europaea (olive fruit) oil, coix lacryma- jobi seed extract, simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil, glycerin, dimethiconol, glyceryl stearate, isodecyl neopentanoate, PPG-5-ceteth-20, ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, fragrance, acrylates/C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, triethanolamine, DMDM hydantoin, disodium EDTA, iodopropynyl butylcarbamate

There are way better leave-ins out there

I used this once and never again. I strongly prefer other ones. It was way too thin and now I understand why it was such a cheap price.

Good but not as good as the shampoo

I bought this because I LOVE the shampoo. This is a bit disappointing as it is not as moisturizing or nice smelling. Still like it though and would probably get again.

Good conditioner, so-so smell

This conditioner did leave my hair softer, the smell was just so-so, not bad but not good. My hair was softer once it dried, but it left it feeling a little weird in the shower. A little bit goes a long way.

i'm in love!

this product is heaven sent for my hair! I have long, fine, wavy hair that tends to knot and frizz. I use just a little bit of this product and my hair looks fantastic with a minimal amount of fuss! it smells great, which is always a huge plus for me.

Smells good but ineffective

I've been through more than more share of leave-in products and this one completely missed the mark. I have very curly but fine hair so I was interested in a light weight product that would moisturizer and tame frizziness.
The texture was like lard and very uneven in application. It did nothing for my hair as I combed through it to detangle knots and distribute the product. I ended up applying my other leave-in also because I was fearful of a bad hair day. I've since tried it multiple times on its own and am not satisfied.
